Re: If your infant DC hated the carseat

My dautgher used to scream in her car seat. i stuck with the infant car seat and my daugther is just getting used to it at 5 months. she still has her moment though. I bought her one of those toy bars that go on the car seat and that helps. I used to play videos on my ipad and let her watch and that helped too. Her babysitter has a convertible car seat and she seems to like that one better.

Re: If your infant DC hated the carseat

Both my girls haaaaaated the car. DD1 got better around 3 months. DD2 is only 9 weeks and screams bloody murder the moment she's strapped in her carseat. I've tried every trick but she truly just hates it. Today i drove from my mom's house on LI back to Brooklyn alone with both girls and I have never been prouder of myself! Lol.

It's so hard but I know it's a phase (knock wood).

The last time DS who is 6 didn't whine or cry in the car was the day I brought him home from the hospital.
The first 2 years he screamed, threw items at me while I would drive anywhere longer than 15 minutes. After 2, he did get better but he still hates being in the car. Even with movies he isn't great.

Ironically, we drove to Niagara Falls when he was 3 and he was perfect on the way there and back.

Dd is 2. And still hates the ff carseat. She now screams at me stuck stuck haha.

We had many screaming crying car rides. She just hates it. That little there was no much to do about it. When we switched her to co never tingle it was a little better than ff facing was a bit better as well. Wwe know have the iPad set up for her to watch and that has helped tremendously. Only for long rides.

DS hated being strapped into the carseat. At 3 months it got much better. Now he sleeps in the car or looks out the window. The best advice I got was to stick with it and take him out in the car as much as I can and that seemed to help get him used to it. Good luck!

Re: If your infant DC hated the carseat

Ha this gives me some hope that my dd will get better sometime soon. She is 16mos and I get smacked, bit, or a temper tantrum nearly every time I put her in the car and then she cries during the ride unless she is super tired. I'm wondering, did you turn the seat around at 2 and did that help?

ds screamed and cried the whole time he was in the infant car seat. we switched him to the convertible seat at about 2-3 months and no more tears and screams.

it was a pita going out and not having the ease of a infant car seat

DD HATED the the car until 3 months, and then one day she just didn't. Now she falls asleep like a normal child! We did not switch from the infant seat - it just magically got better one day. We switched to the convertible seat around 10 months I believe.

DD used to scream bloody murder getting her into the car seat but at around 2.5 months she just stopped. She actually loves being in the car now, thank goodness.
