Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
We are expecting DC #2 the end of October. DC is going to sleep in our room for the first few months and then we would like to use DD's crib for DC#2. DD will be around 28 or 29 months by the time we transition DC#2 into the crib.
I am debating between putting DD in a toddler bed or into a twin bed. Which did you do?
Also, should I transition her into the toddler/twin bed before DC#2 goes into the crib or should I try to transition both at the same time? I have a feeling DD will be climbing out of the bed and coming into our room!

I am in a similar situation and I plan to trannsition DS to a twin bed. However, he is 28 months now and shows no interest in leaving his crib!

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
We went directly to a twin bed and put up a bed rail. It worked great!

With DD we went directly to a twin about 6 months before DS came.
I am not a fan of transitioning them together - you don't want your older child to feel they got "kicked out" of the crib because of the new baby.

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
My daughter put my granddaughter in a toddler because she was trying to climb out. She absolutely loves the bed. At my house I have a toddler bed and a full size bed in the same room. She loves sleeping in the full size bed when she's here.

ITA with this. Whether you decide twin or toddler is totally up to you. We have DD in a toddler bed because she climbed out of her crib when she was just over 2, and we changed it into a toddler bed immediately. We are having DS in late october, and now, have to make sure we get DD off her bottles before he comes I really think that all tranisitons should happen before the new baby.

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
If you have a toddler bed I would use that first. If not, go straight to the twin. It's not worth the extra expense for a few months. IMO.

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
I got pregnant with twins the month after DS turned 2. There was no way I was buying 2 more cribs. So when he was 2 years and about 3 months we went furniture shopping.
I didn't want to bother with a toddler sized bed that I knew he would just outgrow. So we bought him a twin. Put up the bedrails on either side and he has been sleeping in it ever since.
Since he was keeping the same room we let him "help" pick out new bedding and decorations to make it "fun".
Then we moved the crib out and the bed in. He did great from the get go and we have never had problems with him in the twin sized bed or jealousy once the girls were born and sleeping in the cribs. In fact, I don't even really think he realized one was his crib.
