26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
we are going on a family vacation in two weeks. DS is still in his crib. Would he be OK in the pack'n play or should we bring a rail for a bed?
I thought pack'n play would be easier but I am worried about him being comfortable?
this is for 5 nights.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
We went away for a weekend and DS wanted nothing to do with the PNP. We put him on a air mattress on the floor. We also used noodles as bed rails.

We put DD in the PNP when we went away at 23 months and she barely fit in it. Slept fine, but looked so squished! If I'd realized how small it would be, I would have probably gone with rails. Unless your DS is a peanut, go with the rails.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
We just went on a cruise for 8 night and DD also 26 months slept in a pnp and slept great. She is still in her crib at home. DS (same age) is in his toddler bed at home and slept on the pull out with a bed rail and was fine.

DD sleeps in her P&P when we go away..she's 27 months and she's BIG for her age...but she sleeps fine in it. She's still in her crib at home too.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
I'd think that a PNP would be really uncomfortable for a 26 month old. Can't compare to sleeping on a crib mattress. One Step Ahead has inflatable travel beds for toddlers, you could maybe look into those.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
thanks everyone. he is 32ish pounds and 36.5 inches (on the bigger side) but I just worry that the transition to a bed with rails would be worse than being a little cramped in the PNP and I don't want to bring him into bed with us and start that bad habit.
I guess we will bring both and play it by ear.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
I believe your DS is on the taller side. My DS is on the shorter side and I felt at 2, DS was too tall for the PNP to be comfy anymore (and it showed because he slept even more miserably in it than he was sleeping in his crib).
I'd either do the rails or look into an inflatable toddler bed or any sort of aerobed (when we go to my parents, DS would sleep on a queen aerobed and would do well).

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
my son slept in the twin pack and play at 30 months for 2 weeks and did fine -my sonis inthe 80% for height and weight
he is still in a crib and when he sleeps without a crib he needs me next to him to fall asleep so PNP is a must for us when we travel till he gets rid of his crib at home

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
i wouldn't worry so much-my DS is almost 3 (not big but not small) and still naps in the PnP @ my sister's house when she watches him. we are going to disney next week and i am planning on putting him in i b/c i can' even fathom him having the freedom of a mattress. he is a total nut on the move kind of guy so he needs to be somewhere he can't really get out of. this is just my experience and my kid. every one is different. my DD slept in a mattress on the floor at his age when we went away but i never feared her getting up all night. DS is still in a crib btw!

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
My DS slept in a pack n play a bunch of weekends last summer when we visited my parents at their summer condo..it is not like it is permanent and he slept in. A fetal position anyway...we just added a pillow and sleeping bag for extra comfort..
He was 2.5 yrs old last summer!
This year he "upgraded" to the portable cot! ;)

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
DD is about 2 months and we are going away this weekend and bringing the pack n play.
I plan on lining the bottom with an extra blanket to make it more comfy.

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
My youngest is going on 2 this month & is bigger then yours, 36+ lbs & 40in. We went away for 10 days in June & he slept with no issues in the PNP. As for Tue bed, I rid not want my guy in one especially since he's not use.to anything but the crib at home. Plus he sleeps in.another room on vacation

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
The boys will not sleep in a PNP. They jump out. They refuse to stay in bed with us, too, so basically they don't sleep when we go away. Yup, lots of fun!

DS is 22 months and slept in a PNP for two nights on vacation last week. He is 36.5 inches tall. He definitely looked squished.. but he slept without a prob!

Re: 26 month old sleeping in a PNP?
Well, my DD still sleeps in a PNP once a week when my MIL watches her. She sleeps in a crib at home and on a cot at daycare. That said, I think it depends on what your child is comfortable with, mine will sleep anywhere!
