I have a Q. I have done all vaccines on schedule. I have done my research and this is what I feel comfortable with. DS is almost 9 months, and does not go to a day care. Would my dr be okay with delaying the MMR till he starts preschool at 3. Is this common or will they fight me? Any experiences? Want to add, this is not due to this ruling, I find a lot flawed with this ruling. Just due to other possible reactions and again my comfort level.
My DD did not receive her MMR until after 2. While we knew we wanted to wait, it was my Dr who saw no reason to give it to her earlier since she was not in daycare either. Talk to your Dr and see what they say.
Thanks!

I'm so glad to see this posted on this site. Vaccines are something EVERYONE should research. Forget the opinons on it...as a parent, everyone should be reading the inserts that come with the vaccines BEFORE they are administered to your child.
These are facts. If you know this and decide to fully vaccinate your child then more power to you, I respect that. It's the herd who never bothers to question and believes everything blindly that bothers me.
can you or anyone here recommend the best websites or literature that i can look into and fully inform myself of ALL facts, and ALL points of view? Im due with my 1st child in oct. Thank you.

My kid sreceived their vaccines after 6 months and extremely spaced out. They still have not received the MMR and I was almost ready to give it to them. I think I will just wait until 4-4.5 to do it.
Just curious I'm not looking to debate or start trouble it is just a I wondering- if you give it for the 1st time at 4-4.5 how do you send your DC to K? Do you give the second shot 6 months later? I ask only because when I registered DD for K I had to give her in last years health form - and they sent me a form and a letter that said she couldn't start school until she had her second booster (which she was going to get at her 5 year visit which we hadn't had at the time). They even said at orientation that if you didn't have all your shots even your 2nd booster of MMR that they would not allow your child into the classroom on the 1st day.
I'm interested in this as well! I recently registered DS for pre-K and they gave me the same story. I thought we had the right to not vaccinate in this country? They made it seem like I had absolutely no choice.
You have a right not to vaccinate. And preschools have a right to not accept you. Same for schools. If you don't want to vaccinate you can homeschool. *shrug* haha yeah right its that simple! LOL
AJ's bday is in August so she'll be 5 just in time for Kindergarten. I am keeping her in a private school so I don't have to deal with the drama. My private school does not require the MMR. I am spreading out the 4 shots due at 4yrs - 6yrs of age. She'll get one every 6months from age 4 through age 6. She'll start 1st grade in public school at age of 6 and all shots in.
In NY there are only religious and medical exemptions. Schools can't just outright deny children whose parents file an exmeption form. They need to review it, and give a reason why they find your reasoning insufficient. Then you can appeal it and rewrite the letter if needed. Some school districts are extremely strict and fight the parents, some are leneint and will approve the letter. But in NY you can't pick and choose, you either give all vaccines or none.
If you're in TX, I think they give philosophical exmeptions, and you CAN pick and choose if you wanted to.

Thanks I already gave the booster but I see so many on here holding off so I was curious when they were very strict at orientation but seems like a lot on here do something else.

I'm not sure about this 100% because I have not yet discussed it with my ped or school but, I have heard that it is possible to just show blood test results that DC is still immune as substitute for the second MMR. My DS got the MMR at 2.5 instead of 12 mos. I would like to delay the second one an equal amount of time so the spacing is the same. I'm hoping just showing he has immunity is enough.
ETA: I haven't read it in a while but, I believe NYS law allows you to show blood results showing proof of immunity in lieu of the shot.
