C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

What does your scar look like?

Mine is still pretty yucky. It's about 6-7 inches long, purple in the middle and white at the ends, and raised.

It's been over 3 years since my csection! How do your scars look?

Re: C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

I had DS1 in 2007. before DS2 was born in 2011, my scar from cs 1 was about 4inches long and only visible on the right side and just pink, not red and yucky.

DS2 is 14m and my scar looks great already! My OB cleaned it so from the first cs and right now there is some pinkish areas but really I think in another year it will be almost non-existent!

You are lucky!! Mine was a crash csection, I wonder if that has anything to do with the yuckiness of my scar.

DS is 2.5 y/o and I can barely see my scar...My dr did an awesome job. It is really low and I am still not sure how he got my sons really BIG head out of such a small incision!!!

Bad, it's a keloid. Has nothing to do with your doc, it's how your skin heals. it's been fixed once, not sure what to do with it now! The good thing is the scar is extremely low and small, maybe 3 inches across

18 months and my scar is one big keloid! I'm having another cs in 6 weeks amid now I'm nervous it's going to make it worse. Thankfully it's below my bikini line!

I had DS #2 two years ago and my scar looks great. I also had a keloid after DS #1 in 2008. When I had my second c-section two years later, the doctor "cut away" the old one and the new incision healed much better! It is flatter and lighter than the first one.

You may heal better this time- and I did nothing different during the recovery process so I am not sure why it was different. GL!

Re: C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

My c-section was almost 4 years ago. I can see it clearly, but it's very faded and about 6 inches long. I don't ever plan on wearing a bikini so I'm not worried Chat Icon

You know I never even looked until just now. 2 c-sections, last one was 17 months ago, no scar at all, you would never even know I had c-sections. Wow, now to get the belly to disappear too. Chat Icon

Re: C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

With first DS it was a crash and they did staples. Scar was low, but it was purple and raised. Never cared for it

My second DS will be 1 next week. Had a sched c section and the doc cut out the old scar and it looks soooo much better. Low and hardly there. I've worn bikinis and you wouldn't even know

Pretty damn awesome. It's barely there. It's about 5 inches long. My on apparently is awesome with cs scars according to the hospital. Everyone told me how great it was when I was in there. It's there bit minimal. My cs was 3.5 yrs ago

C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

im only one year out but i had a very extensive surgery with lots of blood loss and a difficult removal of placenta accreta. i was open for over 2 hours and closed with staples.
my scar just recently changed from purple to red. it is still very raised and uneven (some parts are flat and some are puffy still). it almost reminds me of that puffy paint that we used to use on clothes in the 80's..its like puffy and raised in most spots with a few flat spots here and there.
i wonder if it will ever get better looking.

I had 2 C's ......
By the time I had Colin the scar from Sean was almost invisible (they are 2 years apart)
My Dr. used the same incision spot for Colin, he's a year old and my scar is almost gone again.

I have an awesome OBGYN -

Re: C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

Half of it is faded and half is visible Chat Icon. My MW says it healed really well, esp considering mine was a crash csection. I'm 19 months pp.

Re: C-section Mommies who are a few years out...

With Ds #1 my scar was barely visable. After Ds #2 it would've been almost the same, but I had an infection and they had to re-cut a small section and that part is more visable than the rest of it. My OB did a great jo all in all though.
