BTDT- Birth Plan
Did you bring a birth plan to the hospital. When and to who did you hand it to?
I have less than 10 items on my birth plan, mostly letting them know I want to breastfeed and do not want them giving the baby formula unless medically necessary AND with my permission, stating that I want my husband present at all times, but no other guests during L&D and also that I want an epidural. One or two other small things.
How can I make sure that these things are stated? I printed it out on a piece of paper to bring and hand in but I don't want to just shove it someones face, especially if it is the wrong someone and then they just disregard it. How did this work when you were at the hospital?

Re: BTDT- Birth Plan
I think the nurse would put it in your chart. It doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary that you are requesting.

(I'm also curious to know although I'm sure all my plans will go out the window once I'm admitted )

Re: BTDT- Birth Plan
The things you are asking for are pretty standard and you do not need to hand a list to the nurses. The nurses are great and honestly understand the visitors and BF
I said I wanted to BF and even when I asked for formula they didn't want to give it to me. All you have to do I tell them.
Also. Be flexible with any birth plan. A lot can happen and you really need to go with the flow on many things.
I had to have a c section after pushing for 2 hrs. I just said ok if that's what's best for me and DS.

BTDT- Birth Plan
I didn't have a written list, but as PP said, all your requests are pretty standard. Actually, when I first got admitted, The nurse asked me all those questions, and she wrote it all down in my chart. I personally don't think the list is necessay, but whatever ,akes yo feel more confortable.

BTDT- Birth Plan
We wrote ours out as part of my L&D class. I went over it with the midwife and an OB at my practice the two appointments before my due date, and then I just discussed it orally with the L&D nurse at the hospital when I got there. It was very simple. You can give it to them too (bring a few copies so if you're there for a while you can give it to each nurse on duty). There usually is only one nurse assigned to you while in L&D, depending on when you're there, so they pay attention.

Re: BTDT- Birth Plan
The nurses will definitely listen & try to respect your wishes...I found this worksheet online about birth plans & thought you may like it (if you haven't seen it before!)
