I had no epi for my DS not by choice. I went in wanting an epi but never was able to get it. Now with this DC I think I want to go drug free. Has anyone done this got any advise for me. TIA

You would probably get more responses if you post on parenting.

I did.. well I was induced but no pain meds. i would recommend taking a Bradley class. That gave me the tools to get through it. Otherwise I would never have been able to do it.

ITA. Find a good, multi-session class that seems in line with your philosophy or mindset and absorb as much as possible. The stuff I thought I'd use when we learned it was not the stuff that came in handy during my labor. The most important thing for me was to know that I could do it and it wasn't impossible and wouldn't kill me. Since you've already done it (although not by choice), you have definitive proof! Good luck!

Re: BTDT Mom drug free birth
Best advice I got that was useful to me was to remember that the pain won't last forever. Having a DH who is supportive and helpful made it happen for me. Tell the nurse in L&D that you do not want to be offered pain meds -- that you will ask for them if you need them, but that you plan to have a drug-free birth.
My labor was very fast (6 hours total), but I had to push for over an hour and it was incredibly painful. But remembering that the pain will go away and that the baby will remain helps a ton!
Here's our DD's birth story: http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic-613507-1.html
I do talk about the pain... a lot... lol. But I am still glad I did it that way. HTH!

Re: BTDT Mom drug free birth
I am not a BTDT yet but am aiming for this.
DH and I have practiced a lot of positions, movements, breathing, mediation activities etc that are supposed to help in labor.
I think it's partially mind over matter but also having a bunch of tools to move through pain of contractions etc. .
maybe I'll be able to tell you more soon!!
(though who knows I might end up w/ an epi and have nothing)
