Would you bring 14 mo old to 6 week US?

I have my first US in about 2 weeks for dating purposes at my OB's office. I did the same when I was pg with DD and it lasted maybe 10 mins TOPS. I thought we'd leave DD with my mom (hoping we could time this right between DH rushing from work to get to the apt and my mom being home from work) but DH thinks we should bring her. WWYD?

I would. My DD is closer to 2, but she has been to almost all of my appts.

My 14 month old is very active and wants to run 24/7, but since my DH came to my appointment with me, we brought him. It was fine, especially since your hubby is going. If i didn't have help my DS would have never came.

We brought DD and she was a week before 14 m at my first u/s (it was closer to 8 weeks). It would've been fine if we didn't have to wait over an hour past the scheduled time for the appointment -- by then it was nap time and she was RESTLESS and OVERTIRED. That stunk. But she was pretty good nonetheless. We brought her to the 20 w u/s a few weeks ago as well (she's 17 m now) and she was GREAT. You do what you have to. They understand!

I did... it didn't go so well. DD (17 months at the time) freaked out when they started using the doppler on me. She started to cry hysterically when she heard the heartbeat. DH was there, but she wanted no part of him. I wound up cuddling with DD on the exam table as they checked out the new baby. That was my first experience juggling two babies, lol.

Bring some snacks for your LO (makes a handy bribe) and another pair of hands if possible!

I brought ds with me to all my apt's until my belly was too big for him to sit on me during a scan (well past 20w) He was exactly a year old when i got pregnant with dd. I would just bring snacks and books for the wait. And then once we went into the room he would sit on me up by my rids and look at me or the monitor to see the baby. he had not idea what was going on but didn't care since he was with me. He is a VERY spirited child and always have been but we never had a problem at ob apts.

not to be a downer but i def wouldn't in case the news isnt great. i guess after infertility and losses that's my first thought. if you already saw the heartbeat i would def bring her, but being its your first sono, just in case, i prob wouldn't. (and im never really a downer or overly cautious but its still the first thing i think of when i think about a first sono). but being someone that has had losses, i wouldn't.

all of that being said, im sure everything will be fine Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would (and am on Monday). It's a quick visit and my DH is going to try to get there. It's easier for me to bring her than drive all the way to moms to drop her off and then drive all the way pack to pick her up.

I would if you know they could sit still for that long. Otherwise no

my DD who is 26 months now has been to all my appts in the 8.5 months i've been pregnant. i don't have a choice but to bring her. she is fairly well behaved though. if i had family to watch her, i'd probably leave her home just for convenience for me.
