How crazy do you think it will be Saturday? How early do people get there?

It's generally always packed. We're going to go on Sunday but my advice is to get there as early as possible because parking tends to fill up quickly.

P.S. I believe they do a practice run on Friday so you can always go then too and not have to deal with the crowd. My IL's have done this in the past with the grandchildren ;).

I go every single year and have never sat in traffic there or back. The trick is..make breakfast n bring it there, leave at like 8 am.
As the grand finale is on, we r packing up and watching it as we walk. We breeze in and out. It will b packed it soppose to be 85 degrees.

We go every year. We are on the beach by 9am and never sit in traffic on the way there. We usually stay on the beach until after the show is all over and the crowds have thinned out. Sometimes we sit in some traffic on the way home, depending on the weather.

My grandma is buried at the cemetery next to the airport and she died May 26th, so I usually get to see the practice or the show from the cemetery.
It's never packed in there

I am doing something really wrong.
We have gone the past 3-4 years. We ALWAYS hit traffic by the circle. I mean - it's usually pretty smooth up to the Wantagh.. but then it's HIT THE BRAKES time for a good while. And we leave around 7:30am. We also tend to hit a lot of traffic on the way home - right by the circle.
But.. it's worth it!

I would like to know too! My ds is 18 months and obsessed with plans but i think if we go to the beach it woukd be too loud for him and scare hime (and also scare my 8 week old) at least this a lil further away =)

We took DS last year (he was 2 at the time) and he didn't even notice the planes, but I think just being in such close quarters with so many people was too much. We only stayed for about an hour or so because he wanted to run all over, throw sand, touch other kids toys......it was a lot. We couldn't really enjoy it KWIM? I would wait a bit to bring him. JMO.
My ILs live in Seaford, south of Merrick Rd. and you can see the planes fly over their house.

I would think about takign him fri or even sat to the Home Depot parking lot over by republic. The kids can see the planes take off and land. That way you won't get yourself into the crowds and can leave if they donot like the noise.

I was thinking about this as well. I would either go to Wantagh Park or maybe even to Republic Airport to see the planes taking off.
My mom lives in Seaford and we usually see the plans here and there, but I've never seen them up close!

I go evy year. I leave between 8 and 9 (9 the absolute latest) Traffic isn't bad. And I take the back entrance into field 4 (towards he thearther) there's always less people that way.

We are finally going this year!! I've wanted to go for like 4 years and every year we have something. I'm sooo excited! I love air shows and I am borrowing my FIL's canon rebel, so I'm going to get great pics!!
We are about an hr away in Queens. What time would you suggest we leave?

We went last year and were on the beach by 8:30am....no traffic at all! And at that time you can get a great spot pretty much anywhere you want. Doing the same thing this year! I also got little earmuffs for my DD's (14weeks and 3yrs - I knew the older one would be jealous so I got some for her too!)

I am pretty sure you can see it from Tobay and Gilgo too. Also, we have a boat and are usually out just south of Tanner and Venetian Shores. We always see the planes flying over from there as well.

Just an fyi - tomorrow parking is $8.00 for the practice and on Saturday and Sunday it is $10.00 per car
