Are Joe And Melissa Gorga Broke? Plus EXCLUSIVE: More Behind The Scenes Family Drama!
Last week Melissa and Joe Gorga put their custom-built NJ home on the market for $3.8M, Melissa took to twitter to explain that the couple wants to relocate to nearby Franklin Lakes and that building their new dream home will be part of next season’s storyline (so is that confirmation that she’s coming back?). Melissa also said they would not start construction on the new home until the old one has sold.
Melissa and Joe also listed their Jersey Shore home for sale. This led many to wonder if the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars were having financial difficulty! Well, according to RadarOnline the PDA-laden couple is flat-out broke! “Melissa and Joe are in way over their heads. Joe owes a lot of people money. They have the house on the market because they can’t pay the mortgage now that the interest rate on it has exploded,” a source close to the couple reveals.
Apparently, Joe and Melissa did what many aspiring famewhores did – they exaggerated their wealth and prestige for the sake of the show. Remember, Bravo likes to promote the whole aspiration wealth thing! “They are portraying a life they that they really didn’t live prior to the show,” the source continues. “Melissa likes to drop name brands now and has become very arrogant.” Reality Tea’s own source previously revealed that Melissa has really let fame go to her head and pretends to be fabulously wealthy.

the house they live in now was a spec house- with a construction loan- so it's a short term loan- they were never suppose to live in
that story- plus this one makes me wonder what the real deal is

I thought I had heard something about that last season but figured it was not true since they were still living there and Melissa always takes digs at Theresa by saying they pay their bills.
Now Im starting to think it was true.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me one bit. It's no secret that the real estate marketed has gone down hill especially for higher end homes. I always wondered how Joe Gorga has so much $$ if things have been bad for quite a while now. IMO a l ot of the housewives of (pick your city) are not really wealthy.

IMO a l ot of the housewives of (pick your city) are not really wealthy.
Right bc most people who are really wealthy don't want to be on TV. They don't need the $$ and don't want people all up in their business...unless they want to be actors or something. BH is the only one where most are legit rich.

So true, when BH premiered I was thrilled that they finally found wealthy people to be involved.
Even NY has always been a joke, their hamptons houses were all north of the highway in much less desirable areas and most of them sold those homes in 2009 when the show was just starting out. with the exception of luann and kelly, they were all renting after that. they only film in the hamptons around/after labor day. its easy to get a huge rental for a week then.
I don't know if broke would be the right word to describe the gorgas or any of the other HWs.
I just think they are much more average than they portray on the show.

I never suprised when a guy driving a honda shows me proof of funds to buy a house with over $1million in cash in the account
it happens all the time
one guy I deal with- so loaded- drives a honda, has a blackberry with a trackball on it- and if he had a cup in his hand you would put a $1 in it b/c he dresses like he just left goodwill....but he is the money man in the investment group- multi-millionaire
NJ housewives are just as broke as ATL

there was just a post on reality tea where her publicist provided proof that their mortgage is fine. It is a traditional 30 year mortgage. So they have proof that they are "okay"
