Interesting....i didn't buy any newborn sizes..yikes...i have a 0-3 month outfit...oh well, hopefully she is big.
M DS was 6lbs when he left and I only had 2 NB outfits...the 0-3 were big but the NB ones only fit for a few weeks so we just had him in the 0-3. He was fine....I would not go out and buy NB...waste of money IMO.

My LO was 7 lbs and 3 oz and we brought her home in newborn sized clothing. We brought something bigger just in case, but newborn fit her perfectly,

All 3 of my DCs were over 8 lbs. My biggest was 8 lbs 14 oz. And she wore newborn the first week.

My DS was 7 lb 7 oz and his 0-3 month coming home outfit was humongous on him. He was in newborn clothes for six weeks.

DD was 7lb 15 oz. She get down to 7lb 5oz and at almost two weeks she is just now approaching birth weight again. I don't see her growing out of newborn any times soon. I would get a newborn outfit and maybe bring a 0-3 just in case. Other than the coming home outfit, I'd get some newborn onesies since that and a blanket are really all you need in the beginning.

I wanted the baby to be able to wear it a few times, Not just coming home. We got a boy and a girl outfit in 0-3 months. I returned the girl outfit about a month after I delivered.

NB should be fine. Most will fit beyond the size printed on the label.
