I got a 20. I am sure it is mostly due to the fact that I did not grow up in this country. Although I wasn't blue collar where I grew up either.
My DH did it and got a 30. He's never lived in the US. He just answered a few questions by replacing his country instead of the US. Same idea really.
I got a 39. I grew up in the US, but haven't lived there in about 8 years. The restaurant question was tricky.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
if you're lower class you don't have BOOKS? Come on?
Or access to community theatre? Puh-leaze.
I grew up working class. I still live in the same working class neighborhood I grew up in. My parents didn't go to college. We didn't eat at Applebees because that was expensive and the pizza on the corner was cheaper.
I think it's not necessarily about wealth but about different regional cultural norms.
I saw a Teen Mom episode wherein they were holding up "hibachi's target, and wal-mart" as the height of teen partying
So maybe they couldn't go to museums like we did when we were kids, and couldn't goto limelight (hoiw deprived!) lol, but you mean to tell me there was no park for kids to play in, no local culture at all? I find that very hard to believe. It's about choices more than income.
And the questions about, do you have frineds who have different political beliefs etc? I would think people answering no to that question, who have frineds who are all right wing evangelicals are MORE in a bubble since they are not exposed to other cultures.
I don't see how being exposed to MORE puts you in a bubble. I think it's a weird concept.
However, I'm totally an elitist and would never move my children far from NYC because I don't want Applebees and Target to be their experience of culture,

I scored a 47. I'm comfortable with that- I did marry a good old boy from Ohio.
Did anyone actually READ the explanation after the test? It explains it quite well.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
You got 42 points.
42–100: A first-generation middle-class person with working-class parents and average television and movie going habits. Typical: 66.
0–43: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person who has made a point of getting out a lot. Typical: 9.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
i speak spanglish to my kids when we dine at taco bell- so that they are completely imersed in the culture. When i see others just doing take out, i pity their kids and the cultural isolation they're imposing upon them.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
Thinking of it now I should have scored higher. If this was a quiz based on your exposure to other cultures the fact that I work and went to school in Queens public schools ( the most diverse place in the world) should have earned me a really high score. I suppose those as much as I know about ore international cultures I know much less about middle America...
