Help me pick a location for my sons 1st Birthday!
He will be 1 July 8th. We are planning on having a Peter Rabbit theme. Because it will be in July...I'd love to have it outdoors but worry about rain / wind
I can have it at a bouncy place for free and just decorate the party room with my party theme. If I chose this option it would only be a 2 hour party and knowing my family...they'd be headed to my house after
are there any nice parks that have canopied spaces??
any other unique suggestions to go along with the theme that won't break the bank? We really cannot afford to go nuts here but we want to do something special since it is his very first birthday.
ETA: Location should be in Nassau...I'm in baldwin...so anywhere within 30 mins I suppose would be fine

LI has so many gardens, manor houses, arboretums and such... do they let you have parties at any of those? seems like a place like that might fit the garden aspect of peter rabbit.

Wantagh Park and Cedar Creek Park have pavilions that you can rent for the day. I think it is $150 and then an extra $50 for an alcohol permit.

awesome...some other suggestions I received were bay park and the mushrooms at lido...anyone have more info about those locations too?

ok ...for a party in July...if you had a choice between an outdoor covered pavillion in a playground setting ALL DAY...or indoor bounce house place for 2 hours, which would you choose? is 2 hours too short a time if some guests are coming from Jersey, Bronx, Brooklyn?? I feel like I KNOW some will arrive late.
Is it crazy that I kind of don't want to go crazy with all these themed items only to have them torn apart and thrown out in 2 hours? LOL PLUS I feel like my family may want to hang around so they'd probably end up back at my house if I went with 2 hour.
my only concern is...what happens if it rains? will the pavillion keep everyone dry? does the park refund if it rains?

We have been to 2 1st birthday parties at Cedar Creek park. It was nice because it was leisurely. The pavillions are pretty big so if it did rain there is space to go under.

This is what we're doing for the 1st BDay - 100 people
I think the 2 hour bounce house thing is more for the 'kiddie' parties.
if this is 'family' party, I'd go with the pavillion - especially if you're already anticpating having everyone back to your house ANYWAY - kind of defeats the purpose of paying for the convenience of the bounce house place

I agree with the above.
When you reserve the pavilion at Cedar Creek Park you get two which is plenty of room for a lot of people especially if it rains.
Just know that you will want to bring extra tables and chairs to have enough seating. Also check to find out the fee for the cars coming in to the park that are not residents of nassau county. I don't think it is a lot of money and I know for sure it is not as much as the mushrooms at lido.
