Advice - Long!
Hey ladies! I'm a poster on here but nobody knows we are TTC so I'm hiding out for now. I hoping you guys could give me some idea of what's going on with my crazy cycle - it's a long story but I'll make it as short as possible
I was put on the pill at 15 because my period was extremely irregular - I would bleed for a few days, stop, and then bleed more. I was sent for tests but the only thing they found - to my knowledge - is that I'm slightly anemic.
I've basically been on the pill ever since then. Last year I had to cancel my yearly exam because something else came up so I wasn't able to take my pills that month. I was waiting to get my period before I made another appointment so that the 2 didn't come on the same day, however, 2 months later I still had no period.
I went to my gyno and explained what happened, she acted like it was totally normal since I was on the pills for so long. She said it could take months for my cycle to be normal, she put me back on the pill since it was 6 months before my wedding and I wasn't trying to conceive.
In December I decided to go off the pill to see what happened - my last period was December 3rd
I've taken pregnancy tests so I know I'm not pregnant but this just doesn't seem normal. My next appointment is April 11 and I plan on talking to my doctor about all of this but I was hoping that maybe someone has had something similar happen to them.
DH and I would like to conceive this summer, I just wish my cycle was normal.
Thank you so much to anyone who made it through this whole post! Any advice, stories etc would be great!

Re: Advice - Long!
i would def get checked out by your doctor. i was also on birth control since i was 15 and when i got off my cycles have been 35 days but have been consistent. My doctor never said it could take months for me to get my period...all she said it is may take a few cycles to get a regular period. sounds like there may be something else going on

Re: Advice - Long!
The first time I ever went off the pill after having been on for years it did take me months to get AF. I believe there is something they can give you to bring on AF. Maybe if you hit the 6 month mark they'll give it to you and then you can see what happens from there.

Re: Advice - Long!
Sounds like me ... and I have PCOS.
I was on the pill since 15.. went off at 25 to TTC .. umm don't ask me for the rest of my story because it's not typical and may scare you!
Anyway, with PCOS you don't ovulate regularly. I was under the care of an RE in all my efforts to get pregnant. The good news is that if PCOS is your problem and it's your ONLY problem, then it's pretty easy to fix. You go on meds that make you ovulate and done.

Re: Advice - Long!
def sounds like possible PCOS. the exact same thing happened to me. i went off BCP after 12 years and didnt get AF for 90 days.. OB said it was normal.. then i had a 50 day cycle so i thought i was in the clear.. then another 60 days with no ovulation.. i finally went to an RE and got dx with PCOS and never looked back. you should def try temping and using OPKs. i temped for months and never got a temp shift. i also used OPKs and got LOTS of +s that were never followed by ovulation. PCOS is different for everyone. good luck!

Re: Advice - Long!
Thank you so much ladies. I have been lurking around the TTC boards for a while and I've seen many people post about PCOS. It definitely seems like I have the symptoms of it, I just figured that my gyno should have tested me for it 10 years ago when I first had an irregular cycle
I will bring it up to her at my next appointment, hopefully that's my only issue!
Thanks again for all the advice and lots of to all of you too!
