Need to vent!!!Is it normal to get easily annoyed/irritated during first trimester?

Lately it seems like every person in my family and DH's family is annoying the crap out of me. I don't know if it's hormones, or if it's just because we haven't come out yet, so maybe I'm just getting stressed because they're not being understanding that I can't always be there to help them and spend time with them when DH and I are dealing with our own new stresses and lately I feel sick ALL THE TIME.

It just really set me off because DH's grandmother left a really passive aggressive message on our answering machine about how she hasn't heard from us in a while. Hello!!! Phones work BOTH ways and WE haven't heard from YOU in a while either! Unless you count your passive aggressive message where you tried to make us feel guilty. I know I must sound like a raving b!tch. I know she has no idea that for a couple weeks we thought we were losing the baby due to a sonogram scare, and DH has been exhausting himself working overtime to save up money for the baby, and I've been feeling sick everyday. It's just so frustrating. And she's not the only one. It's the same with all our family, and we have a BIG family. I just can't wait until we get our 12 week sonogram so we can tell people and hopefully they'll all be more understanding.

Sorry for this long and crazy vent!!! Please tell me it's at least somewhat normal to feel this way!

Sorry you're dealing with all this stress. Maybe you should tell your immediate families sooner than the 12 week sono?

good luck with them! Chat Icon

and ps: it's not just you - i've been getting really frustrated with friends/coworkers lately too. i'm not sure if it's the baby or the fact that they're just genuinely annoying lately Chat Icon

i would say get used to it. :) I found that once I was pregnant my tolerance for stupid people things and events was pretty close to nothing. I find myself saying things when usually i would just let things go. In a way its good (work related) and bad (family) but hey Im pregnant and too bad. Chat Icon

just try not to let them stress you out and good luck on your 12 week sono.

Yes!!!! Before I even knew I was pregnant, I had a complete freaking meltdown in front of DH and some of his family! I was yelling at cursing at his sister and before that we had never had so much as a disagreement. It was so mortifying but this insane anger just came over me and I turned into a monster. It wasn't even something worth getting that upset over but I just lost it. Sure enough I got my BFP two days later. Luckily after that episode my temper calmed down tremendously.

I am sorry you have to deal with that though. It's hard to be going through that stress and not have people know/understand what's going on!

I am the same way lately!! I mean I'm pretty much surrounded by stupid people at work, but I have such a good tolerance level for them normally.....well today I lost it. One of the morons I work with came up to my desk FIVE MINUTES after emailing me (literally!) to ask "hey did you get my email??", a) I am one of the most responsible people in my whole department, and b) this idiot does this ALL the time, the combination of the two led me to snapping at this guy and saying "you DON'T need to ask me if I get an email that was just sent every time you send me an email, especially when I'm already taking care of it", and he replied "I was just asking sheesh" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon honestly it's been a pet peeve for everyone in our department, so I guess I'll take one for the team and tell these people off for the next 8 months!!! and to the OP! Chat Icon I feel your pain with the big family situation, DH is one of 7 kids, we have so many people to tell when the time comes, just in the immediate family alone!! DH wants to tell them next weekend! by then I'll only be 7 weeks, he is putting so much pressure on me to spill the beans! Chat Icon good luck w/ your family, I'd personally tell them a little sooner than 12 weeks otherwise you will be ready to snap if they keep nagging at you guys, especially if you haven't been feeling well, at least they'll understand why you guys might want to just stay home & relax. Thanks! We're just really set on waiting until our 12 week sono mainly because of the combination of Facebook and numerous family members not knowing how to keep a secret/mind their own business. I had suggested we at least tell our parents, but DH said he doesn't trust his mother with the news. He said he knows there is no way she would be able to keep it a secret, and I know we have several other family members like that. And now with everyone being on Facebook all it takes is one person to let it slip and then everyone will know. I really feel bad keeping it from our parents this long though. Oh well, only about 4 more weeks to go!

I was thinking about facebook too....my sister is bad w/ keeping things to herself and that's why I haven't told her yet, but I'm debating telling her this weekend...UGH Facebook really does make it more complicated since I'm friends with quite a few co-workers and I don't want them finding out before I'm ready to come out at work. Originally I was hoping to hold out to tell everyone (including immediate family) around Easter, I think I'll be 11 weeks by then. It's funny that DH is the one I need to worry about he is so excited to tell everyone and I actually think it's so cute so I am feeling bad telling him we have to wait!
