I would just pay the $50 and forget it- I would rather pay it then run around getting letters and taking time off from work

Honestly, I would just pay the fine. I get the fact that the director told you otherwise, but in my experience, I've always stopped at red lights for funeral processions except for the one instance where there was a police escort. In any case, I'm sorry for your loss
Yes we were just in one a few weeks ago and the director made sure to tell us that there were red light cameras and there is no fighting the ticket so please don't blow any lights. He said there is no law saying anyone has to yield to a procession- it's just a courtesy and that there is also no law saying you have the right to ignore red lights and traffic signals to keep up.

First of all, sorry about your grandmother. When ever I have been part of a funeral procession, the funeral directors have told us that you still have to obey the traffic laws.
although the ones I have been in, have been slow that you can eventually can catch up.
