Mucus plug or something else?
Sorry in advance for the tmi ladies. I had a c section 16 months ago. I'm 30 weeks and I have been cramping pretty often lately. Just now I had a thick clear mucusy discharge come out of my vag excuse my French lol. My ob just checked for a uti, and did that test to see if I was at risk for preterm labor. Could this be a sign something is brewing? Any advice would help.

Re: Mucus plug or something else?
I am almost in the same boat as you, had a csection 18 months ago and I am 34 weeks pregnant and I think I started losing my plug on Thursday but I'm not sure because I never lost it with DS#1. It's just a mucousy discharge that is sometimes tinged brown but not bloody or nasty slug looking like in those google images. From doing a search on here, I'm pretty sure it is the beginning of losing the plug. I am seeing the midwife on Tuesday so I guess I'll find out for sure. It sounds like you may have the same thing as me? I asked about it on parenting yesterday and some ladies said that they lost it as early as 30 weeks and still made it to full term so I am guessing that you are ok. I know that I am scared to death that I will go into labor soon because it's starting to come out already but we'll see.

Re: Mucus plug or something else?
For me the discharge changed throughout my pregnancies. Towards the end its now more (sorry for the TMI) ewcm than it was in the second trimester. I sometimes think it's the mucous plug, which I remember losing over series of days with both m previous pregnancies, but midwife did an internal exam this past week and it seems "everything" is still intact - which brings me back to believing it's just hormonal shifts showing up in the form of discharge changes....hope this post makes sense.....

Re: Mucus plug or something else?
This is my first preg so I don't have experience with that yet but from what my OB told me to keep an eye out for is that he said it would def be a thicker consistency then your normal discharge. He said its almost a bit stringy if you were to put it between 2 fingers and stretch it apart. It would also, mostly likely, be tinged with a brown or reddish/pinkish color. Being that you're only 30 weeks, I would say to call your OB to be safe and get checked out. Good luck!

Thank you. It was stringy and I could stretch it apart but it was clear. I'm going to lay down for a while and see if I have any more of this type of discharge or cramping. I really don't want to end up in labor and delivery if it's nothing.

Re: Mucus plug or something else?
Call your OB. I lost my plug at almost 32 weeks and was in pre-tern labor and didn't even know I was having contractions until I got to L&D to be checked out. Thankfully they were able to stop the contractions and I made it to 37 weeks on bed rest. GL!
Oh and it looked like a "glob" of snot (sorry) and was tinged with brown blood.
