childcare

what is everyone's plan for childcare?

I am obsessing for some reason over this right now, so was just wondering what everyone else was doing..

Daycare just as with DS. Four days a week in the Fall and Spring. At least 2 maybe 3 days a week in the summer.

Stressing about this. Going back to work after 12 weeks and we're probably doing daycare. I keep hearing that in NYC you need to get an infant waiting list before the kid is even conceived. Ahhhh

I already booked daycare at a family group daycare for September. I am 21 weeks now and when I was looking at 16-17 weeks, a lot of the bigger centers already had waiting lists!

ETA: MIL is probably watching the baby 2 days per week, so he/she will spend the other three in daycare.

we are relying heavily on family which is making me nervous..I am so overly nervous about having all of my ducks in a row and I am just scared that we will be left some days in the lurch.

I am paying a close family friend to watch the baby two days a week, as she watches other kids the other three days. I am praying that if we ever get caught without someone to watch the baby that she will be able to maybe watch our baby in addition to the other two..although I am not sure how the other kids parents would feel about that

Ugh..I know it all works out somehow. Its just frustrating sometimes for my type of personality to be able to let go.

The plan is for my inlaws to watch the kids.

DH gets home from work a few hours after I leave for work in the morning, so we would only need coverage for then. I plan on asking my aunt to see if she can watch our LO for those few hours a week. My FIL is also retired, but I'm not sure if he would want to watch our LO all the time (he likes to go out to places and do things, so I don't see him wanting to be tied down) but we will also ask him to see if there is maybe one day a week he would want to watch our LO.

I work nights, DH days. there's an hour gap between us and i can probably limit that to once a week. my cousin will probably babysit but its still early for details like that

full day child care for the twins 5 days/week

i have already picked the daycare facility- they guaranteed me two spots..

the cost is insane though...but i love the place

the price of full time daycare is crazy. dh thinks it might be best if i become a sahm
not sure how i feel about his since ive been working and making my own money since i was 14. the thought of dh taking care of everything scares me a bit

DC #2 will be joining DS at daycare 3x a week. The other 2x during the week they will be home with DH.

not sure how i feel about his since ive been working and making my own money since i was 14. the thought of dh taking care of everything scares me a bit

this was one of the reasons why I became a SAHM when I had my DD. I worked full time since I was 18, up untill I was 7 mo pregnant (27yo) , so it wasn't an easy decision , but it worked out great for us and never regreted it. I went back to work PT when DD started PK at 3yo.I started a little business on the side and things have been really good.... I wouldn't stress about it too much , things always work out :)

DS was at an in-home daycare until 16 months. The woman cut back the hours and made it difficult to stay. We got a share nanny and it has been awesome!! I highly recommend it if you know someone in your area that needs childcare for the same days you do.

I posted the job on care.com and got a ton of replies. Our nanny is incredible and will be going from watching 2 toddler boys to watching 2 toddlers and 3 infants (the other mom is prego also). Its going to be insane, but we're hiring a helper for her also.

When DS was born in 2010 a close family member was supposed to watch him but that fell through last minute. We put him in daycare. DC is due in 4 months. When the baby is born we will take DS out of daycare and the same family member who was supposed to watch DS will now watch both kids, starting in May/ June. We are paying her the same price as daycare but she will watch both kids for the price of one. I hope it works out this time. If not, then DH will have to drive both kids to my mom in Queens. My mom offered to watch both kids free of charge. Obviously we will still give her a little. But the problem is the commute during rush hour. I don't even want to think about it.

DH and I live in Chicago with only his family here (my family is in NY). He doesnt have any family members that can watch our , so we're going the route of day care. We decided to go with an at home day care provider 1) because the baby will get more attention and 2) because it was cheaper.

It was a hard decision to make. I'd love to stay home with our LO, but we just cant do it financially

I am very lucky that my dad agreed to watch my LO. I'm a teacher so I have summers off plus all the vacations and days here and there so it works out. Im just lucky my dad is retired and willing to watch him!

I went at like 8 weeks to look at daycare. I was obsessed. When I heard the prices, I was afraid and we talked it over and by some good fortune a few things worked out and MIL is going to be the babysitter. As for how much we are giving her, I don't know.

We are still undecided. I work at a pre-school which you would think it is easy for me but, it is not. My boss will give me a discount but, the way she is being it wont be much and Im not work just to pay for my DS to go there. So Im looking into being a nanny, 16 yrs experience and being a mom for 17 yrs, I hope I can land such a postion.
