Eating issue - Weight loss
We are deeply concerned about our DD who for the last week has not been eating well and has lost weight. She actually is eating less and pooping more. We are really confused since we there could be a number of reasons for this and here they are:
1. She had vaccinations last Friday. Its hard to believe that they could still be affecting her feedings a week later.
2. She's had a slight cold, with some nasal congestion, but has improved the last couple of days so I dont think this is a factor.
3. Teething- no visible signs of teething, but she does drool quite a bit and usually has something in her mouth.
I dont know how any of these would cause an increase in pooping. She normally would poop once a day, but now's she pooping twice a day and she had 3 bms one day this week. We have an appointment with the ped tomorrow and we hope we can get to the bottom of this. Perhaps we should get blood work done? She cant continue to lose weight like she has and we are really at our wits' end here.
Should we try Hylands teething tablets just incase she is teething and to see if this helps with her feedings? Thank you!

It could def. be the teething. In my case, when my daughter was teething she refused to eat, therefore had lost some weight and had more BMs as well.

How old is she?
Sounds like teething
It does affect your BM's. DS gets loose BM's when teething. Just b/c it's not visible, doesn't mean they're not bothering her.
Teething mixed with a cold can effect everything... eating, sleeping, etc.
Hopefully it's a phase and passes.

She's 7 1/2 moths actual and 5 months adjusted. Should we start giving her teething tablets to help relieve any discomfort and to help her eat better? Will the ped be able to tell if our DD is teething by looking at her gums? Thanks again!

The dr. can tell if the gums are swollen. I would try giving her Motrin before dinner and hopefully the pain will reduce and she will have an appetite for dinner. It's worth a try!

How old was your DD when she began to teeth? How much weight did she lose and how long did this go on? what did you give her to alleviate her teething and to help her to eat? Its strange that teething would affect BMs.

My DD started teething around 4 months. I don't remember exactly how much weight she lost but I know she lost some weight. In the beginning, I would give her cold stuff to put in her mouth like a frozen washcloth or frozen teething ring. Then I spoke to her doctor and he said it was okay to give Tylenol. I gave her Tylenol for awhile and that helped but then after a whle Tylenol did nothing and I gave her Motrin, which I still use today. Motrin seems to be the most effective.
