Re: Cruel things people say
I notice that alot of these comments are about someone mistakenly thinking someone was pregnant. As someone who once put my foot in my mouth doing the very same thing, I just thought to mention that it probably wasn't done intentionally in a cruel way.
A teacher at work came back after the summer having gained weight all in her stomach and her face so she looked pregnant and I congratulated her on her pregnancy. Turned out she just gained alot of weight over the summer and wasn't pregnant. I was mortified. I definitely learned my lesson and will never assume someone is pregnant again just based on how they look... BUT i was really coming from a genuine happy place and not trying to be cruel... if that brings any comfort to any of you.

I have issues with infertility.
Recently a family member while holding a baby turns to me and says “jealous”. .
I HOPE YOU PUNCHED HER IN THE FACE!!
That's the only appropriate reaction. What a BEAST!

Re: Cruel things people say
Some of these things are just horrible. The things that come to my mind is in middle school a boy I was really good friends with grabbed my belly fat one day (and I was only a little chubby) and said I should really try to lose weight so I'd look better. That really crushed me in terms of how I looked at myself.
The absolute worse thing I can remember though didn't happen to me but to a kid in my 4th grade class. There was a boy who was the target of practically the entire school and the teacher picked on him constantly. He got sent in the hallway to be punished on nearly a daily basis.
One day the kid was crying in the hallway and the teacher ran out with a plant in his hands stuck in under the kids face and told him not to waste the water and put something he did to good use.
Another time the same kid was crying in the hall and a younger student called him a cry baby so the (same) teacher ran outside to give the kid who said that a high five and laughed about it.
My mom was his religion teacher and at some point told his mom she needed to transfer him out of the district bc otherwise he'd probably be tortured the rest of his school career. I think she pulled him from school the next month and they moved away. Even at 9 years old I remember being shocked at how cruel people could be.

Re: Cruel things people say
In general, I'm pretty non-confrontational so these are the ones that really stick out:
Said by a stranger that I accidentally bumped into while walking to the escaltors
"Watch where you are are going your fat, f'ing b!tch".
I was completely hormonal that day & yelled "I'm 7 months pregnant, you c_____ . (I'm aware it violates the code among women not to use but oh well). Then I threatened to punch her. She got of the escalator & took the stairs. For the rest of my pregnancy, I looked for her every day.
On the flip side many years - and pounds - ago, I was in an aircast & was in pain from trying to walk to work because of a subway problem. I tried to flag a cab & one stopped in front of me (halfway in the block). She ran up the block & pushed me out of the way to get in the cab. Then screamed at me that because I was young & skinny I thought the world stopped for me. The cab driver asked me what I wanted to do because he actually stopped in front of me. I told the cab driver that this fat piece of ___ could take my cab & then yelled back at her something pretty awful that involved wishing her death.

Re: Cruel things people say
When I was in 8th grade, at a catholic small school, I wasn't so cool. So, I had a bunch of friends from public school. We weren't allowed to wear much jewlery and my mom couldn't afford much anyway. Since I wasn't rich some of the kids called me scrub.
That I shook off but, once I bought this choker necklace that I LOVED. It was black ribbon with a yin yang on it. Some beotch, Cally, came up to me and said, "Nice choker". I thought she was being nice so i said something stupid like, "Thanks, I got it at Clares". She goes, "hahahahah I was kidding.. it's called sarcasm".
I guess I am still not over it. I was so pissed that I couldn't go to Catholic High School because my mom couldn't afford it.. but, in the end, I went to Seaford and I had the BEST friends. sone of those girls came back later to public school and wound up being in my friend group. THAT felt good. To have them kissing my azz because they had no friends. But, in the end one girl and I put that past us and we are friends now.
I also had a guy in 9th grade say to me, "why do you bother wearing a bra if you have no boobs". I was so angry. And I wore push up bras from that day foward. Now I have a d cup! For real But, I ran into him at a bar a number of years ago and he was trying to talk to me and I wasn't being the nicest. He called me out on it and I told him why. He didn't remember it and I told him I wasn't mad at him or psycho like that I just don't talk to people who are total jerks like that. HE said that he has been told so many stories of how mean he was to people and he has no idea why he was like that. He apologized and was really embarassed about his behavior. All was forgiven then.

Re: Cruel things people say
At my parents block party over the summer, one of the neighbors who I haven't seen in awhile came on over to DH and me...
She says, "I see one of you has lost weight since the wedding!" (She looks at DH). Then she looks at me and goes, "Oh, I see you stopped walking..." (I used to walk around the neighborhood.)
1. Wtf??? 2. Actually, I had lost weight since the wedding too. 3. Of course I stopped walking around the neighborhood. DH and I MOVED.
I got over it fairly quickly. My family and friends were absolutely livid though.

Re: Cruel things people say
I have another one.
My sis and BIL have been married for several years but don't have children.
A relative casually suggested that they can always go to a sperm bank.
WTF!
And this is someone who knows my poor sister miscarried twice.
My BIL has never quite gotten over that comment. I guess it's the opposite of the old way people would always blame the woman for IF issues.

Re: Cruel things people say
I went through a rough time with acne in my late 20s and there would be so many people who would tell me how to take care of it. Like I didn't know I had acne. But it was brought to my attention a lot. I honestly did not want to leave the house because I was afraid of seeing people

Re: Cruel things people say
I got called fat so often when I was a kid that even when I lost weight they called me that. It finally stopped after 7th grade.
In adulthood, people still make comments on my body. They imply that I'm fat or tell me that my chest is too small. Take a look in the mirror before you attempt to insult my looks

Re: Cruel things people say
A woman I work with (moron) said to me, "You look like your gaining weight." Then she tried to soften the blow by following up with "Don't worry, some men like fat women."
This woman is like double the size of me, so I should have just said to her, "You would know." but I just turned around and left.

Re: Cruel things people say
I cant remember much except I have played so many sports my whole life. I can not tell you how many times I have heard parents and coaches yelling at the boys on the other team when I SCHOOL them. LOL I always heard, whats wrong with you! Shes only a girl! youre letting a GIRL beat you!!!
The boys were embarrasses and honestly it only made me work harder to beat them and to show them girls can do just as good if not better! They picked on the wrong girl!
Im a phys ed teacher in elementary school and when I hear things like that from the boys I squash it immediately. sometimes I ask them if theyd like to play THIS girl. LOL

Re: Cruel things people say
I had mean comments about a flat chest when I was younger. I had mean comments when I was pregnant, "Wow, you really gained weight all over." I had mean comments after I had the baby, "I knew you were having a girl because she stole your beauty...but now you're pretty again."
But the worst thing anyone ever said to me was a student. I was talking about how my brother was a Marine currently stationed in Iraq during the war. One very angry boy looked at me and said, "I hope he never comes home. I hope he dies there."

Seriously. That is the most evil thing I have ever heard.
I have a few... We have 2 boys. Upon hearing my 2nd was another boy I got from a family member, "oh well, you wouldn't have been able to afford a girl anyway". Not sure if that was supposed to be consoling...?
From my Dh after I wasn't feeling up to working out at 6am after i had my second DS: "well, go on looking like a bag of smashed a $ $ holes then, what else can I say".
