To wash or not to wash....

So DH's mom lives in FL. She has a cousin who has a baby girl. The cousin gave her a TON of clothes to send to us (sooo nice of her!). Well, the clothes arrived (omg, so cute, we love them!) and I mentioned to DH that I need to wash them all. Well he says that they were washed before they were given to his mom...and then his mom ironed them before she mailed them to us.

DH is assuming they were washed in baby detergent. He is kinda offended that I wanna wash the clothes. I guess he thinks I am insulting them or something. In reality, I am just more comfortable knowing they were washed with baby detergent and put away in the drawers (and not put in a bag..then a box..and then mailed).

So...would you wash them..or let them be? What do you ladies think?

TIA!

I would totally wash them. And explain to him that it's no offense to ur inlaws, you're sure that they're clean and may have done the right thing, but you don't know what happened to them in transport. Tell him that bugs and rodents could've been around the package!Chat Icon

I would just do it without him knowing! Chat Icon And I would totally be washing them! A friend of ours gave me a big bag of baby clothes and I plan on throwing them in the wash when we do all of our other baby stuff!

WASH THEM!! who cares what DH thinks. You tell him it is important for the baby. If the baby got a rash or something... he would feel terrible right? Better to be safe than sorry DH. It's not like the other people will know you rewashed them...

I would definitely wash them. There's always going to be that shred of doubt in your mind that will drive you crazy unless you do. Plus its for Baby's safety and you can NEVER be too cautious when it comes to LO.

I think once baby cloths is washed in detergent and used a static sheet on the fire resistance of clothing is already compromised.

I would DEF wash them... but that is just me.

Even if I trusted that they washed them, I'd wash them again "my way." LOL

Re: To wash or not to wash....

I even washed my own stuff that I know was clean before I stored away for another baby.

Absolutely wash them- all you lose is time, and laundry detergent.
