When you get your BFPs, when will you tell your family?

DH and I had an arguement last night. I was asking him if I got a BFP when he was away would he want me to call him or wait and tell him in person. He said its up to me and whether I could hold it in. Then we started talking about telling our parents.

When you got a BFP how long did you wait until you told your parents?

He said we should not tell our parents until we are about 2 months. My parents and I are super close and my mom is my best friend. I tell her nearly everything. How could I not tell her?

When I got my BFP in October, we decided to wait to tell our parents and everyone else until after the first doctor appt. Unfortunately, when we went we found out that the baby had stopped growing. I am still glad we waited to tell our parents. We did decide to tell them about the miscarriage after the appt, but our next BFP we will wait again. No point in getting their hopes up, if it's not meant to be.

We decided to wait to tell everyone, including immediate family members till 3 months. Esp since we're having such a hard time getting pregnant, I want to make sure everything is ok before we get our families excited.

I will however tell my 2 bestest friends right away, they each went through 2 pregnancies so I will need them to vent to and talk to about all my worries and concerns. If I tell my mom she will end up worrying about me till I'm at least 3 months(she's a big worrier to begin with) and I don't want to put that stress on her.

We'll probably tell our parents my BFF but wait until I get a blood test and an ultrasound to tell the rest of our siblings and friends

I will definitely tell my 3 closest friends right away, I'll need someone to lean on especially since I will be SUPER nervous waiting to hear that heartbeat....we agreed that this time we'll wait to tell everyone until we do hear a heartbeat, since last time I miscarried at 8 weeks and everyone knew, it was hard breaking that news after everyone was so excited for us. Especially since DH has a big family it's best to not spread the news until we know what's going on.

DH doesn't want to tell anyone before 3 months. I don't think I can hold it in. Plus I do a lot of heavy lifting as a nurse and deal with a lot of nasty nasty infections including antibiotic resistant. I'm afraid I'd have to tell people at work.

We don't plan on telling anyone until we hear a heartbeat.

We will tell our immediate family and BFF. Wait until HB to tell others and 3 months to make it public knowledge

im not going to tell my mom. she will be WAY to depressed if God Forbid something happens so I am going to wait a while with her. i will tell my bff.

I think DH is a strong believer in waiting the 3 months.
I agree with that as far as friends and extended family go. But when it comes to immediate family, there is so way I will be able to hold that in. I am super close to my parents and my twin sister so we will most definitly be telling them right away. God forbid something should happen with the pregnancy, I know they would be support for us.

Right away probably.
We waited until 7.5 weeks when i got my last bfp... we saw the heartbeat 2x... and still it ended in a miscarriage. So i guess unfortunately anything can happen at any time regardless.
due to the nature of my job i HAVE to tell work right away and it'd just feel wrong for 200+ people at work to know, but not my immediate family.

Immed fam and prob my 4 close friends right away. Everyone else after 12 weeks.

Right after I tested we called our mom's at the same time. Then our sister's. Neither of us were gonna wait to tell them.

I understand where he is coming from, and I hear you all on getting them excited. But my DH is away half the week. I will feel better having my parents know. Besides I tell them everything. He is crazy if he thinks I am waiting. (I will try to wait until the blood test.)

He can wait 3 months to tell his parents. I really don't care. They live in NJ anyhow.

I will probably tell my sister right away and maybe SIL everyone else when we hear the heartbeat

I don't know...I think it would be really hard to keep it a secret, but at the same time I would hate to have to tell everyone if God forbid the pregnancy didn't stick. So we would probably try to wait a couple months.
