Bottle/nipple/paci ?

I am 37 weeks now. When should I start washing/sterilizing bottles? Is it too soon? Paci I feel like should be ready to go. No?

I don't have my bottle sterilizer yet. What should I do? Wash with soap and water and then put into boiling water? For how long?

Ahhh! Chat Icon

Re: Bottle/nipple/paci ?

make sure you read the instructions on your bottles - some bottles should not be placed in boiling water (dr. browns is one of them), only the nipples.
i wouldn't sterilize anything just yet - its not going to stay sterile and it could be just sitting there for another 3+ weeks! i can't believe how close you are though! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

dont sterilize anything until you are going to use it. Once it hits air post sterilization, its no longer sterile Chat Icon

I would wait until you are about to use them to sterilize them. You don't know exactly when your baby will be here so you can up to 4 more weeks.

yes, its too soon Chat Icon

any sterilizing you do now will be pointless if they sit around for a few weeks.
Wait until you come home and can have DH do it (if you're planning on formula, i'm sure they'll give you the nursettes to take home from the hospital that you can use in the meantime)

most sterilizing can be done by putting the item into boiling water for 5 minutes, then washing the item with soap/water.

check the instructions of your bottles as most of them only recommend sterilizing the nipples, not the bottles themselves.

I didn't sterlize any bottles until I got home. I sterlized the pacifers I was taking to the hospital with me.
