Overwhelmed with bottle/nipple choices! Please help.
Which bottles are you getting? Are you getting separate nipples? Are you getting a starter bottle set?
I was leaning towards the simple Avent newborn set but there are so many other choices - Dr. Brown, Playtex, Born Free.

Re: Overwhelmed with bottle/nipple choices! Please help.
For MY DS we used the Dr. Browns, and some Advent(at my mom's) I also got additional nipples for the different stages/ages. The Dr. Browns are sort of a PITA to clean, but my son had a big reflux problem and those were the ones I was recomended to use. Not sure about the this one...I will probably stick to the same, I saved them all and don't really want to buy new ones!

we registered for the playtex ventaire sets (and registered for a couple of different nipples). Hopefully they will work out. They are BPA proof and plastic. I didn't want glass.

After several attempts with different bottles, we finally settled with born free with dd.. So thats where were starting with this baby and hopefully he/she likes them and thats the only brand we use this time around.

Re: Overwhelmed with bottle/nipple choices! Please help.
I picked up some of the playtex nursers and the slow flow nipples.
I plan to BF and was told by the RN who taught my BF class that (if you are BFing)you should get the longer nipples with the wider base, because the position is closest to what your own nipple would be in. She also said to get the slow flow nipples because in general bottle feeding is easier for the baby than BF and the baby will tend to prefer whatever is easiest.
She also said to only buy a few initially until you know what style your baby likes.

Re: Overwhelmed with bottle/nipple choices! Please help.
I plan to BF and my friends who did the same had the best luck using Playtex Nursers w/drop-ins. So I'm just registering for the starter set and we'll see from there.
Don't stress about it too much because ultimately the baby will choose what bottle/nipple they prefer. So maybe get a couple of starter sets so you have some options.

Dr. Browns with the slow flow nipples. My son does great on them and almost no reflux or spit ups...

i was going to do dr. browns' exclusively, but then after reading some information and a close friend suggesting it - we registered for a small amount of each type - to see what the baby will prefer (and by small amount, i mean like a 3 pack of each)...
