Has anyone's child had this virus?

DD#2 was perfectly fine yesterday then around 4 or 5 she spike 101.2 and it went up to 102 at 230 in the morning. The fever completely goes away about 1.5 into the dose of Motrin. She woke up acting fine again with a temp of 98.6. She was not complaining of anything and said nothing hurt. Today she was fine all day and again around 4pm she spike 102.1. The fever goes completely away with the motrin. Has anyone else had this? No runny nose, says her ears, head, throat and stomach do not hurt.

Yes DS had it a few days ago...fever that spiked and came down , then spiked again and came down..no other symptoms...lasted about 48 hours and then he was fine. I only gave him tylenol once as he was so irritable with it and then he rode it out the rest of the time and was fine.

Re: Has anyone's child had this virus?

Our school nurse who worked in a pediatrician's office for 20+ years said the difference between viral and bacterial is that viral fevers tend to spike in the afternoon/evening, while a bacterial fever will remain high throughout the day.

We had a similar virus a few weeks ago. No temp in the morning, but by the afternoon it would start creeping up and then peak in the evening.

Hope she feels better soon.Chat Icon

Yes. DS has it for several days. Totally fine during the day and about 102 in the early evening. He ended up testing positive on like day 5 or 6 for step, although he said he throat never bothered him!

DD just got over this on Thursday. Her fever would spike to 104.5 and. Go down with tylenol and advil. Dr said it was just a virus. She took blood work and a urine sample and everything came back fine. It lasted about 3 days!

DS had it. we only got to 101, but there were no other signs and it didn't bother him. He did get a blood and nose culture and they said viral.

He had the first fever at around 10 AM

Thank you - no fever since Sat night - she was 99.9 yesterday - but didn't spike. This morning though she is complaining that her forehead hurts. But otherwise is acting completely normal. I guess I have to watch her and see.

Yes. DD#1 had this last week. Saturday morning she woke up with 101.2, gave her motrin and 3 hours later it went up to 104. I brought her to the doc and everything was negative. I piggy backed the motrin and tylenol and the fever lasted 3 days. It was just viral.

Last year she developed the same thing but it lasted 5 days with a fever.
