Night terrors and urinating? WTH?

DS is 3 1/2. For the past few days an hour or 2 after he has fallen asleep, he wakes up screaming bloody murder, jumping around, crying, etc. He talks jibirish and is unconsolable. The 1st time he yelled bathroom, I took him in and he peed right away. 2nd night I held him in my lap and he peed all over me. 3rd night I just took him right to the bathroom and he peed. AFter all 3 occasions he fell back asleep 30 seconds after his head hit the pillow and he has no recollection of it in the morning? Any idea what is going on here? He also pees right before bed.

I grew up with a sibling having night terrors at that age (we shared a room) and I never remember her peeing.Chat Icon ....but is it POSSIBLE he is drinking more before bed this week & the urge to go is what is prompting him to feel uncomfortable & in turn bringing on the night terror?

Only thing I can think of is when my dd has night terrors, we will pick her up and put her on the toilet because peeing will wake her out of it 90% of the time. After he pees is the terror over? I hate the night terrors, it is so hard to watch.

Yes, once he pees, he will go right back to sleep.

I have no experience with this, but I show something about it on the Doctors tv show. Dr. Sears said to start keeping track of the time it happens and if its around the same time every night, wake he up before it happens and that should help avoid it. Check out the Doctors tv show website, maybe they have more info for you.

Re: Night terrors and urinating? WTH?

My daughter has night terrors, but has never peed during them.

About 30-45 minutes after she falls asleep I go in and shift her around to wake her up enough. Apparently this changes the sleep pattern and helps to prevent night terrors. I do this on nights I feel she's really overtired because she seems to always have then after a super busy day.
