Re: Toddler sleeping in YOUR bed
I said I would never ever allow it...and I recently broke down...
My DS started STTN by 3 months....and did just fine until he turned 2 in August, shortly after in September, it stopped. It started when he climbed out of his crib, and transitioned to a toddler bed. He started waking several times during the night. He usually would go back to sleep if DH or I put him back to bed. Then he started getting up insanely early...like we were watching Barney at 4am. NOW he is going through something where he WILL NOT stay in his room - even with a baby gate across the door he gets so physically worked up that he knocks down the gate and screams so much he throws up. So what else could we do - we brought him into our bed and we all got some sleep. I don't have any other solutions right now. We both work FT and need our rest. I even tried laying on the floor in his room til he was asleep but he came and laid down on the floor with me LOL.
Suggestions are welcome....

Re: Toddler sleeping in YOUR bed
We do it. Sometimes it can be annoying- like if we wanted to dtd or I get pretty frustrated when he STILL throws a fit about bed and he's already IN our bed- but over all I love him being there. Can't imagine it's gonna last forever. I don't really care about a "bad habit". I slept with my mom probably til I was five (my mom was single so idk maybe she was just lonely) and I don't have any sleep issues etc. My ds just loves to be near people- he loves being social and at night he loves the warmth of his parents. We DID try to do the crib, toddler bed, etc- but he just seems to want us- and we want him.

DS is 15 months and sleeps in bed with us and we both LOVE it. To each their own
I will worry about breaking this "habit" when we feel necessary. Right now we are enjoying him and love waking up to a smiling toddler in the morning.
We both work and only get an hour at night with him during the week, so we like having the cuddle time at night.
Plus, the last 15 months have FLOWN by so friggin fast, I don't want to waste time doing CIO or getting DS to sleep in his crib. We'll never get these months back and he's already becoming independent before our eyes, he won't be 13 years old and sleeping in our bed. To us this is a petty thing to worry about.
well said!!!!!!

Ink that since he is having severe sleep issues, if allowing him in your bed allows him to sleep well I would let him. Worry about breaking the habit later.
And fwiw, I have co-slept with all of my kids, and haven't had an issue with them sleeping on their own when I moved them out into their own room. All of them sleep in their own beds ll night, no sleep issues whatsoever.

Re: Toddler sleeping in YOUR bed
I think its a personal opinion..and others should not judge.....i do sleep with my toddler..and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't go around announcing it to strangers or anyone for that matter..because i find people tend to frown upon it. In another month we will be purchasing my DS a full size bed and will train him to sleep in his own bed, as I have another baby on the way, but i will definitely miss him. Boohoo.
