Headaches...
So, since about 8 wks I have had to deal with (almost daily) headaches. I have taken tylenol 2x since seeing my OB due to a dizzy/fainting spell with intense headache and nausea at 7wk5d... I'm 13wks.
My bp is normal and so is my heart rate. I'm carrying twins... and they said my blood volume is more than that of a singleton...
I don't know what to do about this. It's horrible. They're not completely debilitating... but they get there if I don't get off of my feet (which is difficult M-F due to my teaching job).
Does anyone else deal with this? How? I am completely open to suggestions??

Re: Headaches...
Were you a coffee drinker prior to getting pregnant? Caffeine withdrawal is my main cause for headaches.
My second cause is hunger and dehydration. Maybe your blood/sugar is low. You can try having smaller more frequent meals. Also make sure you are hydrated.
If you continue to get headaches and fainting/dizzy spells, please tell your doctor bc it may be something more serious. (like anemia)

Re: Headaches...
I was having headaches more frequently in the beginning. Now, I get them just on occassion. I discussed it with my OB and he encourged me to increase my fluid intake. I feel like that does help it but it isn't a dramatic increase. I wish I had a better suggestion for you! Feel better!

Re: Headaches...
I make sure to drink at least 100oz of water/day... and I eat small meals (a protein and a carb) every 3hrs. I also try to make sure that I have my one cup of coffee/tea every day - as that was my habit prior to being pregnant. This is so frustrating... I feel like I'm following my doctor's orders to the letter... for me to continue to have these headaches. UGH

Re: Headaches...
The first week of my 2nd tri, I had a headache all day every day. I increased my fluid intake and went to bed with an ice pack on my forehead and that relieved some of the pain. I also put the ice pack on the back of my neck.

Re: Headaches...
I suffered from crazy migraines for YEARS. Then when I got pregnant, I had an awful one at around 7 weeks, and then didnt get them again at all....not after I delivered, not when I got pregnant 2 more times. It was wonderful! My dr had said, sometimes pregnancy could make them go away
Now with this pregnancy, I have been getting them again And to think, I thought I was "cured" from them They haven't been as awful as they used to be, and I pray they dont go to that level
When I was going through them, I discovered that salt helped. The dr even had me take salt tablets. Also, I find it correlates to my blood pressure. When I am having a bad migraine, my top number and my bottom number are close together.

Re: Headaches...
i am with twins and i get awful headaches. i feel like stress/being very busy or eating certain foods (aka lots of salt or cheese) is a trigger that brings them on. sometimes they can last for 2-3 days at a time.
caffine helps a little. i also take tylenol. a cold compress on your forehead or neck can help. hot can help, too, like a hot shower.
they are awful and most definitely are the worst side effect of the pregnancy.
however they are nothing to be worried about...its hormones and blood flow etc that causes them. not one of my many doctors has shown a concern.
i hope you feel better!!

Your triggers are the same as mine... I just want to rip my head off most days.
Thanks for the reassurance!

Re: Headaches...
I wish I had an answer for you but I wanted to respond so you know you are not alone. I am going through the same exact thing. I have bad migraines daily as well as fainting/dizzy spells. My OB has sent me to a neurologist for the migraines, who is setting me up for an MRI, and now wants me to see a cardiologist for the fainting. I honestly dont think either one of these specialists are going to help me. I have been out of work for 2 weeks since I am afraid to drive and cannot stand up for a long period of time without feeling like I am going to faint. I have been doing the same thing that you have. I drink the same amount of water, take tylenol when its really bad, and trying to eat small amounts a day. I dont get why its happening and I am only having 1 baby!! I really hope you feel better soon. I know how horrible it feels!
