Moms with step kids....xmas card question

DH has 2 boys from a previous relationship (never married) and now we just had a baby, he's 5 months.

i was going to do a picture xmas card but its so hard to get all 3 kids together since we dont have them every day, get them all dressed and have them take a pic.

i contemplated just putting the baby on the card but then thought that was kind of rude, especially if i was sending the pictures out to his side. i woudlnt want them thinking that i am disregarding his other 2 kids.

would you just put the baby on the card or just skip the whole picture thing and do a regular card?
what have you moms with step kids done in regards to picture cards?

What if you did a multi picture card? Had 3 seperate pics of them. Do you have any recent pics of your step sons that you could use?

Definitely all or none - not just the baby for sure.

This is what I was thinking. I've seen a lot of that style. Definately don't just put the baby.

i thought about doing that, having seperate pictures but would you think it was weird if you got a card and didnt see all the kids together in one shot?

I wouldn't think twice about it really. Trying to get any three kids to sit together and all smile for one picture is hard! Lol. If you have time to try, then try, but honestly it wouldn't matter to me.

When my SD was coming for visitation regularly she was always on our C-Mas card.....Now that we see her only what ends up being a few times a year (sadly, not by choice ), we only have our 3 on the card....Not the way we would like it, but the way it is Chat Icon

I say if you "can" make it happen, do it while you can , however since its the baby's 1st Christmas I personally see nothing wrong with having his pic only this year and just signing their names to the cardChat Icon

I think it wouldnt be right to just have the baby. Im sure your stepchildren would feel left out. I say all or none. I even like the idea of putting seperate pics of them on the card.

I always put my step-daughter on our card. I would never leave her out. I think that you should try to put all of them on it.

Although, this is very true. I should add that unless there were issues i would try to put them on.

Re: Moms with step kids....xmas card question

I have an almost 15 yr old ss and 5 yr old dd. I put them both on the card. Now that he is getting older, having him pose for a card isn't going to be easy. Last year we went to the city and saw the tree and went to the gugienheim museum - took some great pics of them and it just worked for the card. If I couldn't get them both in one shot, I would do separate pics.

Re: Moms with step kids....xmas card question

My XH will call and set-up a time for this. (Aside from their regular, scheduled visits) They have come, picked up the kids (I had them dressed), taken the pictures and dropped them off in an hour or two. I don't know what your exact circumstances are but we have been doing this for about 10 years now.

I have an 8 yr old SS and my two DD's are 2 and 4. We always include him on our xmas cards. I know it can be difficult to get all 3 children together but he is part of our family. We only see him every other weekend so I have found it easier to try to start taking pictures starting in early November everytime he is over. I dont get the kids dressed up, we just go outside and play and I try to get a good picture of the 3 of them together. Last year I had to do a card with 3 individual cards because I couldnt get a good one of them together in the short time I had.

Multi picture card. We do this all the time, for #1, it's very hard to get all the kids in 1 picture all looking good. So we take the best of each and put it on a card.
