1 week old's back bright red???
My 1 1/2 wk old's back is bright red. Is this normal? It isn't a rash and it isn't warm- just looks sunburned...

Re: 1 week old's back bright red???
not trying to scare you but my son was almost 6 weeks old and had some redness on his belly. it wasn't raised or bumpy just red blotches. i took him to the ped and the ped said to keep an eye on it. by the next day he got the redness all over his body and spiked a fever. we had to go to the er. it got worse before it got better and we were there for 3 days. in the end he was diagnosed with some type of virus but because he was so little and spiked a fever with the redness/rash he had to go to the hospital.
i say bring him to the ped and watch the redness - make note if it spreads and take his temperature consistently. thats how i realized my ds had a fever - i kept taking his temp every hr or so. from one hr to the next his temp went from normal to 103

IF it looks like broken blood vessels, it could be a hemangioma forming...thats how my DDs started. Looked like a bruise. I would go to the ped.

Its not lacy and she doesn't have a fever. It just looks like she got a sunburn on her back. Very weird...
