Recs for NON convertible crib sets?
DH and I have run into a situation where now within 2 weeks of needing to get a furniture order in, we have to reconfigure our finances on what we can afford...
we're wondering if it's necessary to get a convertible set, or just get old fashioned "nursery" furniture...
and when the kid gets older, they get new furniture...and our next baby or whatever can use the "nursery" furniture we already have provided we keep it in good shape...
any recs?

IKEA has a standard crib for $100 (no mattress.)
Otherwise, you can still get a nice convertible crib without actually buying the conversion kit.
Baby bargains book has good references.

I have a convertible set. But I have to say, our set is from Bellini. We have our second DC in it now. We've had it for almost 4 years. It has held up beautifully. We will be using it for #3.
My parents and IL's each have a cheapo set from BRU. For the limited time that DCs have used them, you can just see the difference in quality.
My advice, if you plan on using for more than one baby, get a good set.

ohhh very true...cuz i do like the look of the convertible cribs as opposed to the traditional cribs and the conversion kits that i've seen are all almost another $200+ dollars so that's a good option
we had our heart set on a certain set from behrs, so its really hard to brainstorm outside of that now

well this is exactly why we're so upset with the situation right now...whether it is to last the one child many years, or to be passed to future children, it needs to be GOOD furniture...so im just having a hard time thinking about options...
i haven't looked at bellini, totally forgot, we were looking at Romina which is SOOOOOO EXPENSIVE (just realized how much so tday, because the price wasnt a factor until just this week)
do you happen to know how bellini compares to romina in price?

For our first, we have the Pottery Barn Kendall crib. It was like $400 and is not convertible, but it's really nice and great quality!

Baby Bargains rates the Graco Lauren high and very affordable. My mattress cost more than my crib, LOL. Check it out in my nursery album.

Not sure how much Romina is. Back when we bought ours, it was $800, I THINK.
