Newborn moms (and BFing ones)...what do you eat?
I have a very active 2 y/o DD and a 4 weeks old DS and I have been forgetting to eat and even when I remember the thought of eating anything makes me sick. I think it's affecting my milk supply and my weight loss too. What do you eat? Any idea for wuick food that is healthy or at least a good attempt at healthy?
Im going grocery shopping tomorrow and i need to do something about this eating thing.

I'm not great about eating healthy, but some of my healthier options are crackers or carrots with hummus, string cheese, apples, cut up fruit, granola bars.

Re: Newborn moms (and BFing ones)...what do you eat?
I used to eat while I was BFing, great way to kill 2 birds with one stone. Older DS would be playing and I'd make a pb&j (I lived on those), grab a big glass of water and nurse which I know in the beginning takes a long time. Grab an apple, banana, any sandwich, instant oatmeal, granola bars, cut up vegetables and hummus or crackers and hummus etc.
It will get easier soon as they nurse for less time the more weeks that pass. They get more efficient so you don't have to spend as much time nursing.
Does your older DD eat breakfast lunch and dinner? If so you should at least be eating those when she eats. Bring the baby to the table, make her food, make your food, sit down and eat together (wherever she eats)I and nurse the baby while you eat. You should be taking in even more extra calories while nursing than you do when you're pregnant.

Re: Newborn moms (and BFing ones)...what do you eat?
I ate (and eat) almost everything, but I stuck to my comfort foods early on. Chicken and matzoball soup, beef stew, bagels, omlettes, chili. This could be why it took me 4 months to get into my pre-pg clothes.
It's definitely going to affect your supply if you don't eat, so find something that seems appealing and have that.

Trail mix, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal. These I eat as a snack or any fruit or fruit cup to hold me over before a meal. Meals I.eat with DS1 and if DS2 needs to be fed I feed him and I eat at same time. While keeping an eye on my toddler that loves to throw his food once he's done eating.
