I did Avent though my friend told me that the playtex dropins are easier and cheaper so maybe I will switch to those I don't know...

Re: Bottles

Born Free and Dr. Brown's. I chose Born Free because they said it's easy for bottle feeding breastfed babies and Dr. Brown's came highly recommended.

I registered for the Born Free only. My sister used the Playtex drop-ins and was trying to convince me to order those but Born Free weren't around when she had my nieces.

Re: Bottles

I have Dr. Brown's and Playtex drop-ins because they were great for DD and we had them in case of gas/colic too.

Re: Bottles

I was very overwhelmed in the bottle section. I registered for Avent, my sister told me a lot of it is trial and error and if I don't like those I can always try another brand.

Re: Bottles

I registered for the Dr. Brown's regular bottles - the 4oz and 8oz.

At the begining, I would use the 8oz for formula and the 4oz for BM to keep them separated in the refrig.

They make a gift box set at the stores. I started with that and then added to it once I knew she liked the bottles.

As for washing the parts, Dr. Brown has a dishwasher rack you can buy and they provide the brushes inside the boxes to wash the parts if you go that route.

My DD doesn't spit up or have gas that much due to these bottles and she's def. not colic!

I registered and received starter kits for all of these but Evenflow.

I am hoping baby likes the Born Free bottles. Once I figure out the ones he likes best, I will return the rest.

Re: Bottles

The top 2 that keep being recommended to me are Born Free and Dr. Brown's, so I will register for the gift set of both, and then see what LO likes best before buying more

My SIL uses born free and my cousin uses Dr. Browns, so whichever my baby doesn't like, I will gladly give to my relative to use with their baby since they will still both be bottle fed at that point.

look what I found about introducing bottles to bfed babies.. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the last bullet.. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

What's the best way to introduce my baby to a bottle?
Most lactation experts suggest you wait until your baby is 3 to 4 weeks old and breastfeeding is well established before introducing a bottle.

•Offer her a bottle a little earlier than her regular feeding time so she'll be hungry and interested, but not so hungry that she'll be frustrated by the cold nipple.
•Let someone else feed her the first bottle.Your baby will be less confused if you don't give her the bottle yourself, since she may wonder why she's not getting your breast. Instead, ask someone who might feed her in your absence — your mother, your partner, a childcare provider, or another mother — to make the first introduction.
•Try to be out of the house for this event; babies can smell their mother from a distance of at least 20 feet, and she may know that you (and your breasts) are around even if you're in another room.

Re: Bottles

For DS#1 I registered for the Paytex drop=in's and Dr. borwn's. DS always prferred playtex drop-in's. I also tried the Playtex Ventaire's with him.

For this baby we will just astart with the drop-in's and go from there.

Re: Bottles

We only used Dr. Brown's because they came highly recommended. Never had a problem with them. Just remember that you can't use them without the straw!

Re: Bottles

I registerd for Dr. Brown's and Born Free but since DD had no problem with Dr. Brown we returned Born Free.

I agree Dr. Brown's is a pain to clean because of the parts but I honest don't care since my DD loves these bottles.

Re: Bottles

We just reigstered for Born Free - I went off the advice of friends who had little ones when I was pregnant.

DS did fine with them - he was a little gassy but, I think it was more him, not the bottle.

Re: Bottles

We only used Dr. Brown glass bottles with Chat Icon and will reuse them (with new nipples) for Chat Icon They are very annoying to clean with all the little pieces but I found they worked really well for us. It's only a short time they use bottles (believe me the 1st year is going to fly!) it was worth the extra effort to me.

I think it would be too confusing to have more than 1 type.

I agree.. first year is going to fly... its just that, I don't want to register for a million things.. just a few good items. I have no room in our apt and no car when DH goes back to work. So hoping to just get items that are tried and trusted.. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon thank you all.. Chat Icon

Re: Bottles - updated questions..

We use born free. I don't bf, but heard tomme tipppie are great for bf babies, similar shape.

I won't get a starter kit of all of those, you'll be overwhelmed. I would pick two.

Re: Bottles - updated questions..

I used playtex drop-ins for DD#1 and plan to use them for #2, they are so easy, and I didn't notice any real difference between them and any other type.

Re: Bottles - updated questions..

I registered for Tommee Tippee. I figured why register for so many, maybe those will be perfect. If they are not, I'll do overnight delivery with amazon. I plan on EBF, but do need to go back to work after 12 weeks.

Re: Bottles - updated questions..

I registered for avent but as a nanny all the kids I watched over the years ironcially used playtex drop ins and most were breast fed. I like those bottles but buy buy baby didn't have them online to add to my registry and I heard great things about avent. when I go to the store to finish my registry in person I plan to see if they have them. if they have them I plan to add some of them to my registry as well.
