What clothes do preggos wear in the weeks after having the baby?

I have maternity clothes that I've never worn and the return deadline is coming up. I'm trying to decide what I may need and what can go back and come off my credit card!

I have a few pairs of pants/jeans that I ordered, but never wore. At this point, I probably won't wear them before the baby comes since I'm living in capris and am not going back to work until after the baby.

How long can I expect to be in maternity clothing? Does that continue for a few weeks or months after delivery? I know it's different for everyone, but is there a general rule of thumb? TIA!

As you said, everyone is different. My DS is 9 days old and I am back in my regular clothes and pre-pg weight. (No flames please. Just saying that the weight may come off faster than you think).

I was in my materinty stuff for a few months. Not even so much for the weight but bc I had a c-section and a few of my pants bothered me bc they would lay right on the area.

I would return what you haven't worn. While everyone is different, you will loose some weight right after delivery and will probably still be in maternity clothes but most likely not the ones from the very end of your pregnancy.

after DS I was in sweats or maternity clothes for about another 8 weeks. Then I went out and bought a few pairs of pants in sizes much larger than I would normally wear. By 6mos PP I was FINALLY back into my regular clothes.

Assuming you aren't one of the lucky ones that go right into pre-pregnancy clothes (fingers crossed that we all are!), you will either be wearing maternity or a bigger size for a while. So what to do with the clothes depends on if you'd rather just buy a bigger size than walk around in maternity pants. Just a preference I guess.

It took me a long time to get back to my pre-preggo clothes. I had to wear Maternity pants for a while after DS was born. After that I had to go and buy Jeans that were 2 sizes bigger then I usually wear. I also had to go and buy medium shirts instead of my usual small because I was BF and my boobs wear huge. I gained 40lbs while PG, so this was part of the problem. You might get lucky and be in your pre-preggo clothes right away.

I am 8 weeks pp and back in my regular tops, probably b/c i'm not BFing so my boobs went way down.

I just went out and bought some shorts and capris in a bigger size than my pre-preg size. I had a c-section and it's only just become comfortable to wear pants in the last week or so. Before that I was living in skirts and sundresses. I think I'd still be perfectly comfortable in my maternity pants, but since mine were bought in winter it's a bit too warm for that stuff now.

I think it will just depend on you and your body, personally I'd return the stuff you haven't worn yet, you can always go out and buy it again if you need to.

I would def return things if you still can. You are going to want to wear the most comfy things you have. My last pregnancy, I bought sooo much stuff that I never wore, or wore once. I don't think I will wear it this time either.

Right after I had DD, I wore zip up sweatshirts and maternity jeans and cords (it was winter)-- and I got back into some larger size reg jeans I had relatively quick.

I stayed in maternity stuff as long as seemed socially acceptable!

I had a C/S so I had the issue with the incision. I would say I stayed in maternity for 3 months, probably.

I wore my PJs around the house and DH's sweatshirt w/maternity jeans for about two months. I had a c/s so I needed something to go over the incision. Once I started to lose weight, I bought a few regular pairs of jeans in a size or two bigger than what I wore pre-baby. I could zip some of my old pants a 4 months pp; all my old clothes worked by 6 months.

BUT everyone is different.
