when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
My dr told me yesterday that I should start looking into it. Oy...I thought I had more time.
When did you ladies start looking at peds?
and what do I do...call and schedule interviews or how does this process work?

Re: when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
I asked my neighbor who has kids and a couple of mommy friends for recommendations. I think I also asked on here. I did this when I was about 30w. When I got the hospital to deliver DD, I think the nurses (or maybe admitting?) asked me which ped I wanted to examine the baby. I gave them the name and that is the practice that saw her in the nursery and then I called and made the 1st appt the day I left the hospital. They fit newborns in all the time I would guess so it was easy to get an appt.
ETA: I never interviewed the practice. I just didnt have time based on my work schedule at that point. I just went on recommendations and have been very happy.

Re: when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
I called my insurance company to see what Drs in my area accepted the coverage. Then I called each of them to see if they were accepting new patients. I searched for the doctor names on here and got some good information based off of that search. Then I scheduled appts and we stuck with the one and only Doctor we saw. I barely asked any questions, he answered everything we needed to know.

Re: when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
I was like 27/28 weeks when I chose mine. I just took a recommendation from my brother and SIL, who have a 4-year-old son. They raved about their ped. and that made the decision easy.

Re: when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
There's a post somewhere that has a list of pediatrician interview questions. Once you've got a few contenders, call and meet the doctors.

Same for me. I went off of a recommendation from a friend, and never met with anyone. I met DS' pediatrician in the hospital when he came to examine the baby. I've been extremely happy with our decision thus far.

Re: when/how did you look for a pediatrician?
i asked people on these boards and did some of my own research. i narrowed it down to 2 but i really liked what i heard about one in particular. i only scheduled an interview with the one i preferred. since i delivered early we never had the interview and i had to name a ped for the NICU, so i just gave them the name of my first choice. the first time i got to see the ped was the day after was released from the NICU. luckily she turned out to be even more awesome than advertised and i never ended up calling the other one on my list.
