changes in skin
Ive had a couple of skin tags on my eyelids for years now, but Ive noticed that they seemed to have gotten bigger since getting pregnant, Ive also noticed a change in color of a mole that I have. Ugh so gross! Anyways do you think I should bother making an appt with a dermatologist? Is there anything he can even do now or should I just wait till after the baby is born and see if they can be removed. Has anyone else noticed a change in skin things, Ive read in my what to expect book that this is common..

Re: changes in skin
I have skin tags and moles, or increased mole sizes, now too. I hope they go away after. All my BTDT friends say they are normal.

Re: changes in skin
I haven't noticed a change in my skin tags, but i think i have become allergic to my eye shadow. it comes and goes, but my eyelids get puffy and itchy and the skin flakes off. my OB told me to see my eye doc, but I would think I should see a derm. So far I haven't done anything!

OHHHHH.... I had this happen to me back in 2009. My eye lids would go CRAZY!! They would swell up and get itchy and then the skin would flake off. I too thought I was allergic to my eyeshadow.
It kept happening. eventually I went to a dermatologist and he did a patch test... this test on my back. Where he taped a ton of things to my back for 2 days to see what I was reacting to. Turns out I was allergic to benzoyl peroxide (and rubber but that's not was affecting my eyes). not my eyeshadow. you can have an allergy and it affect your eyelids even if that's not the area you apply it to.
I would go to a dermatologist and not an eye dr for this. you are probably allergic to something other than your eye shadow.
I never used to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide... i was using proactive for years. All of a sudden my body just had enough of it and now i can never use it again. You can just develop an allergy like this at any point.
I think it's more likely for you that it's some sort of face wash, or lotion or something you are applying to your face that's causing the reaction. there's probably an ingredient in something that your body is rejecting.
i think different derm's have a different number of allergens they test for with that strip test on the back. My derm is up to 100 different things. he's in the city (IDK how convenient that is for you), if you need someone who is experienced in this specific area, I will gladly give you his info. he was actually excited to do the strip test.... once I told him what was happening...he lit up!! haha! it was kinda funny! But he sure did pinpoint it!! It hasn't happened since then!!

Re: changes in skin
I read that this happens. Also you have to be careful when out in the sun.
I just recently noticed a wierd reaction on my inner arm from the bandaid my doc put on my arm after taking blood. At first I thought it was the "glue" but I've been scrubbing and it's still there.

Re: changes in skin
I actually have found skin tags and was wondering and moles/freckles are darker or more noticible. The skin tags are annoying I want them gone. Guess I have to wait.

Re: changes in skin
YES! I do not have skin tags but my freckles are different. I have a red mark n my nose for 6 months and my skin is reacting so wierd to tanning (in the sun) burning and peeling which RARELY happens to me.
My bff said she went to a derm while preggo and he chalked everything up to pregnancy and said he could not do anything while preggo anyway, so I am waiting lol

Re: changes in skin
Whew! Im glad to hear Im not alone. I was going to call my derm today to make an appointment because these changes on my skin have me freaking out about skin cancer!
I have a few skin tag like things on my nipple! Some of my freckles have gotten bigger and look different which freaked me out...and the area around my nipples/aerola have dark spots. It has been freaking me out!
I wonder if I should call the derm or just wait until after. My cheeks have also been rosy lately which is unusual.
Do they go away after pregnancy?
