UPDATED-Level 2 today and don't know if I should find out or not...

Update~So we went last night and were still unsure even when we went into the sonogram room what we were going to do. The tech asked if we wanted to know and I was still unsure so we waited until the end. She asked me if we wanted to guess based on the picture so of course how could we pass that up? DH and I thought we saw a penis when if fact it was a labia (as tech said). My Sean is going to have a little sister Chat Icon !!! I can't even believe it. I had a strong inkling it was a girl. I can't wait to start shopping! It is so surreal to me as I am such a "boy mommy" but looking forward to having my DS and DD!!!

--------------------------------------------------------
I am so torn. Both DH and I are back and forth on this decision. One day we want to find out the next we don't. We found out with DS and I was able to plan and prepare. Now as a BTDT I know they don't sleep in their rooms for a while and I am ok with ordering two sets of bedding and 2 coming home outfits (and return others). It is the coming up with 2 different name possibilities and the unknown that is killing me. I also feel like I have not bonded with the thought of having another baby especially since DS is only 15 months old and this one was a big surprise (but blessing at the same time). Maybe if I know the gender it will help me accept the fact that I am having another soon and stop being in denial. But then again I would love to experience the "surprise" of finding out in the delivery room. Sorry I am just venting away...

I found out the sex for my first pregnancy. I loved getting everything ready for her and having her girly room waiting. For my next, we are going to let it be a surprise. I want to have that experience too. Not that the 2nd means any less excitement than the first. If it is a girl, she will sahre a room with her sister. Like you said, the baby will be in the room with you, so you have time to prepare it. People have said that moment when they say 'It"s a XXX" is so special. Maybe seeing the LO at the Level II will help you bond???

I think since you found out with your first pregnancy it would be a great experience to be surprised with this one - so you can see what it's like both ways.

So I say stay strong and stay Chat Icon

And besides, if you hold out for your Level 2, it's not like you can't find out at any point after that.

Re: Level 2 today and don't know if I should find out or not...

My friend found out for bonding reasons and it worked.

I found out because I NEEDED to know and it really helped me with bonding too. it was SO NICE to say she, her, etc. I felt more connected to her. We were shocked to hear she was a she... and for like days and days I was just in a state of shock over "i'm having a girl!". Now we CAN'T wait to see what she looks like!!! I feel finding out hasn't taken anything away from this experience.. but for me personally it added to it.

that all being said... lots of people stay team green and love it. I think though you need to be strong to stay team green the whole time because I see people wanting so badly to just give in.

I know I could never be team green. Not only because I LOVED finding out, but because I like to prepare as well.

maybe have them write it on a piece of paper and you can wait to see how you feel in a few days.

Re: Level 2 today and don't know if I should find out or not...

I found out for 2 reasons: 1. I'm a huge planner and wanted to really be prepared. 2. for bonding. I already loved this baby but I still felt a bit of disconnect calling the baby 'it' or referring to him as whatever fruit the baby website told he was that week. When I found out that I was having a boy and could start referring to him by his name it just became more real to me.

Now this is just MY experience. Everyone feels different and has different emotions about it. I like the idea of having them write it on a piece of paper for you to view later if you want.

Re: Level 2 today and don't know if I should find out or not...

We found out with DD...and I will say that experience of hearing "It's a girl" was magical and memorable even though we were in the sono room and not the delivery room.

With this one, I went back and forth for a while. But I am a planner, DH is terrible at waiting and I loved being able to pick out DD's name and call her that, to say "her", to pick out her bedding and have the nursery set, even if she did sleep in bedroom with us for a few weeks...I wanted that again.

Re: Level 2 today and don't know if I should find out or not...

This is tough, its such a personal decision. I am a huge planner but always knew I wanted this to be a surprise. There are so few surprises in life, and I loved the idea of the anticipation. With my brother's first baby, it was a surprise and the moment they annoucned it at the hospital it was magical. It also gave us something todo and talk about in thehours we waited for the news! With their second they found out, and it was less fun! lol Ironically, they learned after the first that they didnt need to prepare the room in advance and my niece is now 2 months old and her room is not even nearlyyyyyyyy started yet -its still being used as my borthers office!

Anyway, I say if you are not sure, dont find out yet bc you can always find out but you can never un-know!

I don't think you can go wrong either way, and I kind of want to see what it is like this way.
