anyone have their breech baby turned?
My baby is breech and 34 weeks. I went to the doctor and they said if the baby does not turn in 2 weeks, they can try to turn it, if not I have to have a c-section
Has anyone had them try to turn the baby? What do they do? Does it hurt? (be honest) and did it work?

My ob/gyn advised against this. He said that it is EXTREMELY painful and they you run the risk of detaching your placenta. I of course went with his advice and ended up having a c-section since DD never turned.

Re: anyone have their breech baby turned?
My DD was breech until about 37 weeks. My dr said almost 80% of babies turn in the last few weeks. He said breech births aren't very common. Also, turning the baby is very painful (my cousin had it done) and it is dangerous. I wouldn't worry- you still have plenty of time for LO to turn

They basically push and pull on your belly. If you do choose to do it, make sure it's in a hospital just in case something happens!

I'm going in 2 weeks to check the position of the baby so I'm hoping the baby is not breech, but the nurse told me that if the baby is breech they can tunr it if I want and I didn't understand how they do it. Sounds so painful. Don't think I want to sign up for that.

Re: anyone have their breech baby turned?
I'm having an external version done tomorrow so I'll be able to update you after that.
I'm almost 38 weeks and baby has not turned. In fact she's in such a weird position that they can't even call it transverse or breech.
I had 2 natural deliveries so my doctor is suggesting the version over going straight to a c-section.
I've heard some people say it's painful and others say it's just uncomfortable.
As far as the risks, there's 2 big risks that can lead to an emergency c-section...the placenta can detach or cord entanglement. My doctor said he has NEVER seen this happen in 27 yrs he's been in practice.
I googled external versions and watched some videos of women who had it done.
I hope baby turns for you!

I heard its uncomfortable, I googled it too. They do it the hospital and with sono, they ahve an anetheisolgist ready in case they need to do an emergency c section. I hope the baby turns on its on but I am open to tying it as opposed to a c section if I can avoid it. Its my first baby so this is all new to me. Can you please FM and let me know how it was and if it worked, they say its a 65% chance of sucusess. Good luck.

At 37 weeks and by manipulating your belly to try to move the baby.
