Exercise

So ive never been a huge exerciser, at best I used to do 3x a week, strenght training classes or cadio etc.

Id like to continue (or start, as i had been slacking off) an exercise routine now that I am in my second tri but not sure what the limits are.

Just wondering what your exercise routine is, if any, and wanted to get some ideas?

Do you take classes? do cardio machines? weights at all?

Re: Exercise

I do the elliptical and stationary bike. I'd love to walk on the treadmill, but I get so bored after 10 mins. I don't do weights.. I also do squats, lunges, stretches and some yoga. Chat Icon

eta: the max I work out for is like 40 mins.. 10 on the bike, 30 on elliptical.. I skipped a week or so in between due to sheer laziness. I do the squats and yoga moves in the morning.. to get everything flowing. It takes about 15 mins.

Re: Exercise

I have fallen off the wagon due to first tri exhaustion. I am starting to turn the corner as I enter week twelve and am starting PreNatal yoga twice per week along with a pilates reformer class, I aim to walk at least 20 mins for two days a week on the treadmill and treat myself to a zumba class every other week or so.

It's really hard to modify everything but my body isn't the same...largely because I lack energy due to food aversions.

I'd say start off with something like prenatal yoga if possible along with walking.

Re: Exercise

I ran/jogged and took a boot camp until 25/26 weeks...then it became too much for me (I lose my breath climbing stairs now)

I try to walk as much as possible, but it's hard.

Re: Exercise

I used to run, do weights, yoga and pilates. I stopped running and pilates around 10 weeks or so because they just felt uncomfortable to do. Now, I try to get 5 days of exercise in alternating between walking for no more than 40/45 minutes and a pre-natal DVD that combines cardio and weights. The DVD is called Pregnancy Fitness and it has 4 DVDs, 1 for each trimester and 1 post-natal boot camp. I really like it. Got it at Target for maybe $10 or so.

Re: Exercise

I do either elliptical or walk outside or treadmill or bike (recumbent). I could easily walk 5 miles... I also do weights but light.

I stopped this week at 35 1/2 weeks because the baby dropped a lot and I've been having contractions. So i am pausing until 37 weeks then I'm going back to my routine...

Last visit at 34 weeks I was 1cm and high so the dr said it was ok to continue but I really want to make it to 37 wks. If I am ok on Tuesday I might start again before 37 wks.

Re: Exercise

I continue to exercise normally until I am about 25 weeks or so, then I usually modify some things. With both of my first two pregnancies I worked out until after my due date. I do mostly cardio and body sculpting classes.

Re: Exercise

Im back to working out about 3x a week. I do the weight circuit. No more than 50 on legs and 30 on arms. I dropped from much higher amounts. Then I do 2 machines for about 10 minutes each. Like the bike, treadmill, elliptical etc. For a total of no more than 45 minutes. You just have to listen to your body and don't push yourself.
