Very random question about regular OB visits
Do you take your shoes off when you get weighed? Particularly if you're wearing flip flops? I wear flip flops year round (it's a weird quirk of mine), and I feel like over the past however many years of being weighed at doctor's offices somewhere along the line, I got it into my head that you're supposed to take your shoes off so I always have. I remember once during my last pregnancy, the nurse kind of laughed at me when I took them off and said "yea, those flip flops add extra weight!" So now I'm like self conscious about whether I should take them off or not! So I thought I'd ask what everyone else does. Yes, these are the things that occupy my brain...

I don't unless they tell me to. I always want to because they totally do add extra weight! I usually subtract a pound or two if I'm weighed with my clothes and if I ate recently.

I do. Its instinct for me after years of Weight Watchers!
DH was laughing at me for doing it and I told him its the first thing you learn at WW meetings.
But I also don't wear flip flops ...

Last pregnancy, I took everything off I could possibly AND made sure I peed beforehand.

I don't take my shoes off unless they ask. I think out of all of the times I got weighed 1 nurse asked me to take my shoes off

always take them off. i get mad when i'm wearing all of my clothes or my appointment is at a different time of day... i like everything to be consistent.

i never took mine off but I had a winter baby and always had on big boots and they never told me to either BUT they always deducted a lb or 2 for the extra boot weight!! I loved that!!

I don't at my OB's office because they kind of rush me on the scale.
The thing is, though: for my first appointment, I was wearing a bulky sweater and snowboots and had just eaten a large lunch. So by now, at 29 weeks, on their scale it looks like I've gained like 17 pounds. I've really gained about 4 more than that, but who am I to argue?

I take my sandals off b/c OB has a glass weight watchers scale. Im afraid I'll break it. (LOL)
Im 7 weeks now so Idk what I'm going to do in the winter.

Yes, I have always taken my shoes off.
What irks me about these scales at the doctor's offices is that they are supposed to be calibrated monthly and many are not.
Also, if they are weighing me in the afternoon I always say take off two pounds for clothes and fluids.
I weigh myself once a week in the morning after I go to the bathroom with no clothes on. That is the true weight.

I dont but i thought about it today at the OB bc I had wedge sandals on and they were kind of heavy.....I kept them on though.

I always take my shoes off, flip flops, uggs, boots, flats....they come off. I feel self-conscious doing it too, but I can't help it!!

I don't, but my OBs office always takes off a pound for clothing and even 2 pounds if you have heavy shoes on.

Nope I always keep my flip flops on. I don't want my bare feet on the doctors scale. It's okay if they add on an extra few lbs! lol

WW had the same effect on me! I also try to go to the bathroom and strip off as much as I can before I get weighed at the OB LOL

I took my boots off in the winter...but keep my flip flops on. More so bc the thought of my bare feet on the scale/floor skeeves me.
