Current pediatrician
and my current OB do not have rights at the same hospital. I will be delivering #2 at St catherines and my concern is while the baby is there, there wont be a dr (we know) to check and make sure everything is ok but rather just whoever is on the floor that day/night. With dd #1 I used a practice that had rights at st catherines. Should I go there as if I were going to be a patient stay with them for a few months and eventually switch over? Not sure what people do in these cases. I guess I am reluctant about "any" dr bc my sister was sent home from the hospital many yrs ago with a hole in her heart, lost oxygen to her brain and is now MR. I prefer to go with someone I know to assure that everything is correct upon discharge.

Re: Current pediatrician
My Ped did not have rights at the hospital where I delivered DD#2. I just used the hospital Dr. I kinda put faith in the fact that this is what this guy does for a living everyday.

Re: Current pediatrician
I picked a Dr that was affiliated with the hospital that accepted my insurance. I was given a list at my child birth class.
Then as soon as we left the hospital I took her to the Dr I had originally picked.

This is what we did. The day after we got out of the hospital we went and saw the ped. We just called the morning after he was delivered and told them when we were expecting to be released. They made us an appointment and that was it. I think this happens pretty often.

Re: Current pediatrician
I had originally picked a ped that wasn't affiliated with the hospital in which I delivered. I planned to use the hospital docs and then switch when we returned home. I ended up loving the docs in the hospital and staying with that practice instead. In your case I'd just have the hospital docs care for DC in the hospital and then go to your regular practice when you are released from the hospital.
