can't believe we just spent $$ we don't even have!

we went to route 110 "just looking" for cheap roll out linoleum for the basement floor. Our basement floor was done using old asbestos tile and the tile glue has completely worn away and the tiles are loose and cracking into pieces. We spend so much time down here in the basement that i was concerned about baby not being able to be down here and play since this is where we eat and watch t.v, go on the computer every night.

Well we got a price on one of their cheapest linoleum rolls and it was $485 for 400 sq ft... we told him we like the wood look linoleum better and he went to the stockroom and called out to us and asked "what if i told you i could sell you laminate flooring for the same price or less?" so we perked up immediately. he showed us pergo maple laminate flooring for 99cents a sf...which turned out to be almost $420 based on the amount of boxes and with the moisture resistant sub floor matt and tax it all came to $550. We thought we'd be crazy to pass it up so we ordered it!

I can't believe we did that bc DH has been out of work for 4 months BUT we went to visit DH's parents afterwards and it turns out a family member who couldn't make it to the shower sent a check for $150...and I'm sure both out parents will help. I'm so relieved to know our will have a safe floor to play on!!!

this is what it looks like...a bit lighter than we would like, but for that price...we couldnt care less

we have this in the hallway area. I love it!

we got commercial grade and because there was a slight discoloration in it (you can't even see it.. I can't even find it if I try) where the ink didn't take we got a discount on it.

it's so well worth it. you did the right thing!!!

woohoo! my dad is contributing another $150-$200. I swear the love and support we have gotten has been amazing!

I hear ya... just as you posted this, we were finalizing our carpet install from Home Depot for our basement. Friggin' cost us $1700!! Ridiculous!!!

wow! it's amazing how having a baby pushes you to fix up your home. I told my husband if we have 2 more babies back to back our property value will be through the roof in no time! lol. when you first get pregnant you think...ok we'll need a crib...changing table...some clothes and bedding and bottles...some other baby stuff....then you get a little further in and it starts to feel like everything in your house is "not suitable enough for baby" it adds up for sure!

I told my husband if we have 2 more babies back to back our property value will be through the roof in no time! lol. when you first get pregnant you think...ok we'll need a crib...changing table...some clothes and bedding and bottles...some other baby stuff....then you get a little further in and it starts to feel like everything in your house is "not suitable enough for baby" it adds up for sure!

So true! We finished our basement, added an office/studio for my DH, added a bathroom and finished the laundry room - all in time for baby's debut this month :)

feels good doesn't it! nothing like having house feel more like home before baby comes.

Exactly... we fixed up both bathrooms and are now onto the basement, which will be our new exercise room (baby's booting out the treadmill and elliptical!), our Yankee bar and play area. Home Depot LOVES us!!!

I guess this is nesting to the nth degree!


yeah...i guess its a GOOD thing i don't have access to more $$...this could get out of hand!
