Ticks in Nassau County
Forgive me if I sound DUMB, but I grew up in Queens and Ticks were very rarely something to worry about (maybe we were just lucky).
Are they prevelant in Nassau County or does their prevelance have to do with how wooded the area is etc. Are they are larger worry more out east?
Again, I am not meaning to sound ignorant, I honestly just was unsure myself.
TIA

Re: Ticks in Nassau County
You could have just asked me lol.
They are not prevalent in Nassau at all. My vet in Nassau told me that, and in my experience agree.
Its more of an issue in Suffolk, wiht more woods and more wildlife. There are also deer in Suffolk, which adds to it. But mice can carry them too and mice live in brush and woods, which is why Suffolk (some areas) have alot of ticks and most areas of Nassau do not.

Not where you are now. But WHEN you move to Suffolk, then yes. I think about ticks (and fleas, remember I have dogs) everyday. Oh and poison ivy. LOL

No. It depends where you live.
In Syosset, yes it is and recommended to do a tick tx on your animals.
By me, Hicksville/Levittown, it's not prevalent at all and I don't treat my dogs for it.

ITA I should have said this. Some of the North Shore Nassau areas are very woodsy, so those would count as well as tick country. But the OP is not in that area so that's why I answered the way I did.
