I wouldn't worry about the baby getting nutrients. In utereo, they take from the mom.
I had a 34 weeker & my friends has 27 week, 28 weeker & 32 weekers. I also know someone who had was on bedrest from 24 weeks & went full term (36 weeks).
The NICU gets old really fast. You're dealing with your own hormone rollercoaster combined with the very reality of seeing your baby with tubes. It's a very tough time. The most important thing is for the mom to take care of herself while the baby is in the NICU being taken care of by the nurses.
Hope she's doing ok. Please do not worry about her taking prenatals. What's more important iss that they stabalize her and figure out why she keeps vomiting. I'm praying everything is Ok!!!
I dont have any personal experience with this, but my cousin had preeclampsia and gave birth at 28 weeks...her son is now a healthy, rambunctious 5 year old.
I've also heard that every day the baby can stay in the uterus is equivalent to like 1 less week in the NICU or something like that...which is prob why the Dr's will wait as long as possible to deliver...
Many prayers. I had preeclampsia with DS at 32 weeks and was put on strict left side only bed rest until delivery at 39 weeks. Being in the hospital really is the safest place for both your wife and child. The reason they want the baby inside is that it is the best for the baby. They are playing a balancing game of best for baby and best for your wife. I had all of the vision problems accompanied with preeclampsia. I also know people who have delivered at Valley and they were all very happy with the hospital. Good luck! I also got preeclamtic for DD on the day of her delivery. Once you get it you are at a much greater risk of getting it again for subsequent pregnancies.
