Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I EBF DD#1 and had her stay in the nursery (I only spent 2 nights). The nurses brought her to me and did not give her formula. I plan to do the same with DD#2. Not that I got a great nights sleep - between the nurses checking on me, collecting stats and the cleaning people, I didn't get a solid nights sleep

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I plan on BFing.
I was planning on having the baby with me the whole time. But then I read someone's story on here where their baby stopped breathing in the middle of the night and since the baby was in the nursery the nurses saw and revived him. That story got me thinking.
I'm still planning on BFing... so I think MAYBE have her stay in the nursery and bring her in for feedings... which will be every 2 hours so it might not be so bad.
IDK yet.

That was me and it's why this one will go to the nursery at night too. I just can't imagine if that had happened in my room with no one else around and me asleep

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I'm totally imagining this, or did someone recently post that they did the tour at Stony Brook and they were really encouraging, if not mandating, the baby rooming in with mom? I may be going crazy, well I know I am, but I thought I read this.

your story scared me enough to resonate with me. I will probably do the nursery thing too... but with BF I think she will be in my room often anyway.

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I sent my kids to the nursery at night. Some nights I had them do all formula (first night after a c/s) other times I told them to bring DS to me to BF.
I do personally think that rooming in isnt in the MOM's best interest. You need to rest up because once you leave the hospital, its all you! You may never rest again! j/k

Here is the thread I was talking about. It mentions a number of hospitals, and how it will soon be the policy at SB.

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
DD1 stayed with me. I tried having her taknen to the nursery for one night and I got too sad that I had them bring her back With this one I'm thinking to have her with me as well although I'm debating it bc with DD1 home I'm def going to need more energy!!!

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
Nursery but I have no plans on BFing and I want LO to get used to other people besides mama feeding him/her. And I want to sleep as much as possible so I look pretty and am pleasant for baby (and all the photo ops that come with baby. )

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I sent my daughter to the nursery at night so I could get rest and the nurses fed her during the night then brought her bright and early to start bf. I wanted to get a little rest before heading home.

Re: where will your baby go at night in hosp?
I plan to EBF and Im pretty sure it is my hospital's policy that the babies stay in the nursery at night, and the nurses will bring her to me for feedings throughout the night! I am fine with that b/c I feel better knowing that she is safe in the nursery while Im asleep...but I don't plan to give ANY formula...I will have them bring her to me for all night feedings.

I really hope this isn't the case because I'll be having a c/s and I can't imagine being just c/s and getting up through the night. I may have to fight this one.
