2 year birthday party, wwyd?

Hi all!

My son is turning two in august...we were thinking of just having a simple backyard bbq with just our parents and siblings over the summer We do have some friends around that we see from time to time..

I also have a small family and my aunt and her family are more like immediatefamily to us, but iam looking to keep this really simple and I feel if I do thatsome people wont be invited... I want to do something nice for my son but the aggravation we get from both sides makes me feel like maybe its not worth it and am considering doing something with just my son and us..., is that bad? Has anyone done this?

I wanted to just do cake but I feel like we can't ask people to drive two plus hours and not have food?

Sorry so long.. Any thoughts or advice?

Eta that we live oos from both families

I definitely agree with you that you can't expect people to drive 2 hours and not feed them. On the other hand, I don't think it's "bad" to just do something with your immediate family. Tough call. I know myself, and I would end up still throwing some sort of party. Not sure if I helped at all Chat Icon

I'm with you! LOL

I just tell folks "I want something small, just cake, no food. Just hanging out. You can come by if you like (to those you don't care one way or another) ... OR... Hope you can make it. If not, that's fine just didn't want to leave you out"

I haven't done a party for AJ and don't think she's getting one this year either (her 3rd) .. maybe next year. because she still doesn't get it. So I dont see the reason to waste money on it.
