Hi everyone Chat Icon

Can you please share your first trimester nerves/experiences. I don't know if I am being super paranoid or "normal". This is my first pregnancy and I will be 5 weeks on Friday. I am terrified of having a m/c. It feels like every 5 minutes I am running to the bathroom to check if everything is ok (sorry if TMI), I know I should be calm but I am just scaredChat Icon

Also I am not feeling m/s or anything like that so it just makes me worry. Please tell me if you think I am nuts, or if you felt this way when it went away.

Yes I have learned that google is the devil but I cant help it!!!!

Any advice would be great. Chat Icon

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

I was a nervous wreck the entire 1st trimester. I would be seriously panicking before each doctor appt (and I went weekly bc I was with the RE). I would see the babies looking good on the screen and feel better for a day and then would freak out again until the next appt.

Now that I am in the 2nd trimester I have calmed down a lot. However, I do still check the TP every time I go to the bathroom to check for blood. I don't think that will ever go away.

This is me exactly (except I only have one Chat Icon )

Between the hormones and the spotting I had early on, I just haven't been able to "relax"...though I will say I feel a little more calm now at 17 weeks...

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

when i was in the first tri i was constantly nervous. i didnt have any symptoms in the beginning to reassure me i was hanging onto the pregnancy.

i would always check the toilet paper after i peed to look for blood. its perfectly normal to feel freakish in the first tri. just hang in there

Your fears are completely normal. I am 9 weeks today and I still check tp everytime....it's normal to fear losing something so special and so fragile.

I pray that it will pass and that you enjoy your pregnancy!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

I'm 10.5 weeks and I still haven't really had any symptoms, so don't let that be anything to worry about

Anytime I start to think about something like that, I just remind myself, that worrying won't stop it and its really out of my control.

I know this might sound harsh, but I think of it this way, if I start to miscarry, there isn't anything they can do, so why worry about it? Chat Icon Chat Icon

HTH, and don't worry, everyhting will be fine

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

I am a wreck. I am 6 weeks on Thursday and always think I am bleeding and I freaked when I spotted earlier this week but it has since stopped and was never red or heavy and never had bad cramps....

I have my first US on tuesday so I think I will feel better then.

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

You are NOT being nuts!

I took like 10 HPT bw when I got my BFP & when we went to the dr for our first appt--to make sure I was still preggo!

Also check the TP for blood a million times before first appt.

Once you go to the dr & see the heartbeat you will feel so much better Chat Icon

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

Dh thought I was a prananoid looney tunes in the beggining when I didnt want to tell anyone the news until our first ultrasound.. but I thought I was just being cautiously optimistic.

other than feeling tired I didnt really have any symptoms either, so dont worry about that!

After the first u/s at 8 weeks I felt much better but still not 100 percent. I am hoping after our next u/s next week-- which will make 12 weeks- I would feel a bit more out of the woods, an assuming everything ir normal, we will tell everyone the news.

In a weird way, I miss the anticipation of the very beggining before the first doc's appt where we saw a HB, so trty to enjoy it every step of the way- even the parts where you're a nervous wreck!

Re: 1st Trimester Fears

All of these fears, irrational or not, are completely normal. Let me just say I remember making my husband pull over into a Dairy Queen parking lot on a road trip because I had to check my underwear. If that's not nuts I don't know what is.

I was a bundle of nerves my first trimester. I constantly thought something was wrong even though I felt fine. Now at 16wks I'm finally starting to feel better and enjoy this pregnancy.

So my advice to you is to hang in there. Try and go with the flow and don't be too hard on yourself.
