Newborn Photoshoot...sigh

Well, I had all intentions of doing a newborn shoot. This is our first successful pregnancy after several losses so I really wanted to have it done. As my due date gets closer I don't think that it is something that we can financially do. I totally understand that you are paying for the talent of the photographer so I cant complain. But with all of the expenses associated with the baby it is hard to pay what some of the photographers are charging.

Is there anyone else in this boat? What do you plan to do? I started thinking about a portrait studio (like the one in BBB). I don't even know if they do that. I am going to call to find out. Please share your thoughts.

I dont know what you budget is but you can find people to do shoots for like $300. If not, babies are so beautiful im sure you can take your own pictures when your LO arrives and they will be beautiful!

you can definitely have a newborn photoshoot at a studio. Really all you need is a few good photos so you wouldn't have to spend a fortune.

The least expensive packages I was able to find (photo shoot and all edited pics on a disc) was about $375. That combined with the fact that DH is weirdly opposed to exposing to germs from the props, etc. so early mean that we're not doing a newborn shoot.

I'm a little bummed, because I love the newborn photos, but there's not that much I can do about it at this point.

If I had been able to find someone who could take a few great shots, edited on disc, for about $150 I think we would have done it (with our own props b/c of DH's fears!!!).

My friend is helping me with my shoot. She has an awesome camera and a good eye. See if there is someone that you can ask to help you.

I completely understand how you feel.. we are having twins so we figure that the expenses will be great and I'm haven't been working for awhile.. I knew that the shoot was something really important to me.. and I chose the photographer that I wanted at 16 weeks.. I just tried to cut back on other stuff so that it would make it easier to pay for. I hope that you are able to find a package that works for you

I booked my newborn shoot with Amy Jocelyn for $250 and she gives you a disk with all the pictures that you can have printed yourself. I just met her Sunday for my maternity shoot. She is so nice and I saw a couple of teasers and I loved them. My nieces were there during the shoot and she was so patient and really just great!

I am using a friend of a friend who does newborn shots. She charges $120 for the session fee (that doesn't cover any pics or a C.D.) the disc with digital pics is an extra $100. I thought she was extremely reasonable. Here is her site:
