Girl name BAD associations WWYD
There are two names I am/was considering (I liked them way before I knew of the website & of the scandal came out) but both have NOT good associations...so my question would you still use them (assuming that most ppl won't think of that or is it that bad that you immediately think of these things)?
Ashley Madison (the infamous cheating website) Ashley Alexandra (Spitzer's call girl)

Re: Girl name BAD associations WWYD
Honestly, I can't remember ever hearing of Ashley Madison or Ashley Alexandra, and I watch the news every day. Maybe I knew of those names a couple of years ago when the Spitzer thing was big news, but now, neither sounds familiar at all. I can't imagine that anyone would look at an adorable baby girl with the name Ashley Madison and think, "ooh, dirty web site!" They're only going to think, "ooh, gorgeous baby girl!"
I mean, if my last name were Lewinsky I wouldn't name my baby "Monica," but really, short of that, these scandals just come and go and no one remembers them once the new scandal comes to take their place.

I would NOT do Ashley Madison. People know this site. Men know this site. I just asked DH what he thinks of that name and he giggled.
Ashley Alexandra I think is fine. I didn't even know that was her middle name and I think 99.9% of the population is over this.

Definitely wouldn't use Ashley Madison. Even if it's old news when she grows up, ppl will still think of that now when you tell them the name of your newborn.
Ashley Alexandra - never would have known that was her middle name.

Me, too! I would honestly stay away from Ashley Madison. Howard Stern fans you know would have a blast with this. Such a shame, too, because it's such a pretty name!!

It's funny b/c I thought it would be the other way around I didn't know that many ppl heard of Ashley Madison, while Ashley Alexandra was in the news so much and still writes a column for the Post... anyway I guess I'm still mulling over it, its good to hear everyone's take on it.

Honestly, i didn't make either connection until I read what you wrote. I think they're both really nice names and no one is going to be thinking these things when they meet your beautiful LO.
