Old Wives Tale?
My mother keeps telling me that if you have heartburn, that means the baby will have hair! I have had horrible heartburn the past month or two and the sono tech could see yesterday that  had a little bit of hair! Has anyone else heard this before?

Yes. Apparently it has some truth to it too. When you have heartburn it raises your estrogen levels which in turn cause hair growth.
I had bad heartburn during my pregnancy and my dd came out with a full head of hair!!!

no truth to it....my DD gave me HB, no hair. bald for quite some time.
My two gave me EVEN more HB. def due to all the pressure they were putting on my stomach and whatever organs I had.
Born with itty bitty hair.
My sis had no HB and both her kids came out with hair and practically needed haircuts!

I heard this too. I have terrible heartburn and I was told my  has a full head of hair.

I had the most god awful, painful heartburn ever with DS. So much so that I had to sleep sitting up. He was born with just a normal amount of baby hair, not a full head.

I read up on this during my last pregnancy because I had terrible heartburn! It is often true- apparently the same hormone that causes heartburn also causes hair growth. It was definitely true for me- my son was born with a full head of dark hair!

the truth is that the reason why pregnancy causes heartburn is because the as ur uterus grow it pushes on ur stomach and pushes acid up ur esophagus.
Not only that but the increase in progesterone in ur body makes all of ur joints and valves looser... so the valve that closes between the stomach and the esophagus is much looser making u prone to loose acid.. hence the heart burn.
BUT its fun to hear the Old Wives Tales and make u wonder what ur LO might look like.

I didn't have heart burn and DD was born with a full head of hair.
I thought for sure the baby would be born bald.
